They take quite some time to cook.... So, I soak them in water for a couple hrs. Some people let them soak much longer... Some like to get rid of the skin/shell as much as possible after they soak them... I don't mind eating that too... I doesn't bother me at all...
I cook them like any other bean... With salt, spices, onions sometimes and fresh crushed garlic. Some folks put tomatoes too and others like to add tomato paste. I don't....
It took over 12 hrs (on high) to cook these ones in the slow cooker. In Brasil folks use pressure cooker so it goes faster.Last edited: Jan 18, 2016

A 4 day with number 5 in the back of the truck for delivery at 5:15 am in Dayton at the Sam's Warehouse. Then I get to wait around until they all get to work about 8am....

1st service plaza on Indiana turnpike going west. Heading to WI and MN for deliveries 2 drops. Got to shipper last night at 2230 for a midnight pickup appt. They tell me that product is still being run and they had only finished 25% of the load. Backed into the door and 6 hours later was loaded. It's cold about 13 outside gonna get a little snow maybe a inch or 2.
Rocks Thanks this. -
I'm up at 3:30 to have coffee and get woke up enough to function.

Oh boys and girls. I got to Sams distribution at 5:04am . Got out 6:30. Burger King breakfast sandwich don't hold a candle to Jack in the Box. At 7:50 Roland hit me with pick up CSM and deliver in Humble. 4 sheets of metal roofing. Dropped those in Humble. Sat around. Was just getting ready to go get close to the main places. He called and said he was waiting to hear about a pickup in Conroe and I should just relax a while. After a while I took 1960 over near 45 and got fuel. After a while again I said I'd eat lunch. He said 10-4. At 1:25 I sent if you have nothing by 2pm I was going back over to 59. If nothing by 3pm I was going home. He sent go home.
I feel like the world is fixing to fall in.... -
Ohh... that SUCKS...
You pulling reefer?
I pull dry box... our DSPs are so nice, they almost never get us pick up appts late at night..Sometimes early in the morning... like 5 am...
Hey... you were at the travel plaza at Portage, IN on I-90? I parked there last Monday evening...
I was right there....
Was on my way to some small town in WI...
Decided to shut down there with 2:30 hrs left instead of going thru traffic at 17:00 and getting stressed trying to find parking up north... Left early, before rush hr and flew by I-80, I-294, I-290, etc...
Was loaded here... in freakin cold WI..
Another driver said he slept there the night before and temp was -17F...
Left WI...
And shut down at a rest area east of MO yesterday...
Left before morning rush hr again to avoid traffic in St. Louis... Was going to OKC...
Roads were a mess... totally covered with snow and ice underneath... but very little traffic...
Saw over 15 wrecked semis and other cars on I-44 MO... all the way from Pacific to Springfield.... Guy on CB said it was the bad weather and 35 mph winds yesterday evening...
But these 2 were not bad... compared to the other ones, rollover on ditches and mediums...
Now parked at my company terminal in OKC.... dropped trailer... Truck will be serviced tomorrow... They may take it to Freightliner around the corner.... Got a list of mechanical repairs... -
Rocks Thanks this.
