I picked up a load in Laredo, Tx. Crossed a CAT scale, and the ticket stated 84,??? pounds. I send in a qualcomm message stating so.
Dispatch: so?
Do you want me to proceed?
Dispatch: with what?
Overweight! 84,??? pounds!
Dispatch: what's the weight of the steer axle?
It doesn't matter how much the steers weigh! I am over 4,000 pounds over gross!
Another time, they sent me and two other 53' trucks to a shipper in Port Huron, Mi. the shipper looks at us, and asks, "which one of you wants these 8 pallets?" -
Good one!!!!! Divide em among all three trucks- you go faster when you're lighter. Get better fuel mileage too.

Another company...who has/had red trucks
I was sent to Huntsville, AL to load, from Birmingham, AL.
Waiting outside the gate...in line. I notice one of our trucks coming out the gate. So I ask them what kinda weight they put on. He responded "Nothing, I just emptied. I'm on my way to Birmingham to get my next load."

How about you just whisper it? We will keep it just between us.

When my brother was dispatching me he would try to work me to death. Does that count?

110 hrs in 8 days on the log, this was after pencil whipping the log book to a bloody pulp. -
Sounds like one my old dispatchers. Ask me how I liked my check. I told him it was okay..could be better. 2 weeks later he asked me again...I cussed him.
Mo' miles is one thing...but "late" air freight in truck 24/7...is a bit much.

I had two pre-plans when I emptied in Forth Worth. The first was to pickup at Dr. Pepper in Dallas and take to a Wal-Mart DC in OK by the end of the following day. The next load picked up that night and delivered in Salt Lake in two days. This was no problem because we can almost always deliver to a Wal-Mart DC early. I was driving to Dallas and my QC beeped. I was ignoring it until I got to Dr. Pepper, it kept beeping.
Here is what the messages looked like:
DM: I'm gonna try to get this load taken off you, do not go to shipper.
DM: They are gonna take it off you.
Planner: Load xxxx voided. (Dr Pepper Load)
Planner: Load xxxy voided. (Salt Lake Load)
DM: They took care of it.
Now I'm confused. I messaged back:
ME: Why did you have them take that load off me?
DM: 2 days for a 200 mile load is too long.
ME: Did you see the other load after that that picked up tonight?
DM: No
ME: Are you gonna get me another load soon?
DM: Hopefully, sit tight.
I got another load that day, I picked up the next morning and delivered when my Salt Lake load would have delivered. 1200 miles for the 3 days instead of 1600. Thanks for the help!
