I do too, if it's the best value. Doesn't really matter what the words are on the sign, so long as I save money. Doesn't matter if I save the money at the pump or in a hidden account.
Mom and pops also are usually 100% diesel instead of bio blend.

Anyone around Florida panhandle going into Alabama Georgia, and the southeast coast, bad storms. Was watching some of the streaming storm chasers, bad damage in Pensacola. Trucks flipped over on I10.

I just left the last rest area in Florida in Pensacola, heading east. A few strong rain bands and strong winds out of the south, but nothing too bad. All clear now west of Biloxi thru to I-12.

    Percentage vs flat rate:
Can you make more per mile on loaded miles with percentage? Absolutely.

Now add in the empty miles that you DON'T get paid for. Is that new amount more than JCT flat rate? Probably.

Does Schneider pay for tolls, scales, out of route miles? Not that I'm aware of.

Is that $800+ truck payment going to let you pay that truck off in 5 years without a balloon payment? NOPE!

If you take home time, vacation, emergency time off, shop time, etc., Will they still expect an $800+ truck payment from you? ABSOLUTELY

Will it take you several weeks to climb out of that "hole" before you start pocketing money for yourself again? ABSOLUTELY.

Will you ALWAYS have access to the higher revenue loads? NO

Now is JCT the best program out there? No. Is it a great program? I believe it is.

For those that wish to choose their own loads because they "don't do California, the northwest, the northeast, etc." please turn your truck in. You are absolutely useless to JCT. You knew that JCT is a 48 state carrier BEFORE you signed your contact.

As far as choosing loads here at JCT, you can do that too. Simple communication with your DM or planner usually resolves that. Most the time I could care less where I go because 99.7% of the loads are a profit maker for me. EACH AND EVERY TIME I want, need, request something specific, I get it. Why? Because I don't whine and ##### that I'm going to the northwest in the winter time.

As with ANY business relationship, you have to work with the other party involved. If something doesn't go your way for whatever reason, b1tching about it isn't going to help improve your professional relationship.

So, it's up to each individual to decide if percentage and/or load choosing is worth it.

I agree with 100% Steel. That is how I easily got out of the NW.

Too many drivers out there expect the moon to revolve around them and nothing else. The minute something doesn't go their way, they doom themselves.

Life: hardly ever goes the way you'd like it. We deal with it, some better than others. It's not rocket science to be successful here, cuz if it was, I'd get paid by NASA for my skills.

I wish these qualcomms had 10 hour shut offs, not the 1 hour or whatever they have now. I hate being in the middle of doing something and then the #### thing turns off. /Rant
