Different strokes for different folks. Two people can buy the truck brand new. One blows up @500k and the other is still running with over a million on the clock.

Not everything is as cookie cutter as you think. The longer your out here the more you realize that.

    Not here long

You convinced me, I have wasted all these years at LS not making any money.
If you could do one thing for me I would appreciate it. Call the IRS and tell them that I really don't make that much money.
I will not post rates in a public forum, but my taxes for 2014 worked out .41 per mile, more that a lot of drivers wages, and yes I have a good accountant, and I ran a lot of miles.

Hey blair, have you done the crankshaft damper since you've had the truck? Did mine this past weekend and the ONLY difference I see comes from my mirrors. They don't shake at idle anymore.
Think I'm up to 1.6mm or higher, still getting clean samples with gal oil every 6500 miles.
BTW does yours leak oil between the pickup tube and oil pump? Couple drops, but enough to annoy me.
Almost went out your way to buy a trailer, but decided against. Would have hit you up otherwise!

    Whoa!

    @Old Man , and @Not_Here_Long -

Seems you have @Old Man all puffed up and sideways - which I haven't seen before.

I've met with and talked to @Old Man enough to know - short of seeing his rate cons - that he is the real deal. He is where I aspire to be in the industry, but it'll take me some time. 20+ years in the industry and agent contacts backed by an ability to do the job right the first time is not something you pick up overnight.

I often reference him in conversation to others, no, he won't post his numbers publicly - but they're impressive enough for me to take note and adjust my learning accordingly. Most times I think he is humble enough to sit back and chuckle at most of the conversations that take place on TTR.

@Not _Here_Long - $500 difference in a load is chump change to what @Old Man rakes in on some of his loads. I think one can reach their potential in the LS system - Mercer - own authority - depending on how one applies oneself.

    Carry on folks !

You saw a rate con, times 3 plus one other load on one tank of fuel.
Didn't find that on a load board.

    blairandgretchen Thanks this.

I'm considering doing the damper, regardless of arguments for or against - I have some vibrations that I haven't managed to solve from other means.

Oil pump I did with the rods and mains, I'm leak free and dry now!

Do hit me up if you're local - I'll pm you my number if you've lost it. If there's any reconnaissance you need in the area let me know.

For those that don't know @Big_D409 was the last man I spoke to before buying my current ride :)

    Big_D409 and Grijon Thank this.

With all due respect to you and this informational thread on leasing on with Landstar, wouldn't 41 cents per mile equal that of a flatbed driver with a couple of years experience. I don't mean it in anyway disrespectful, just trying to make a decision on going on my own. Thankyou.
