Is Quality lease program with PTL better than Road Runner lease program, Road Runner advertisement says 3000+ miles per week but I know they just say that to get you to go there when really 2000-2500 my guess.
Someone suggested Dart cuz he said he made good money there to start.
Been divorced, bankrupt, foreclosed, repo, so credit is shot. Don't have patience to stay company driver to save up money. I'm basically a homeless vet who can drive a truck but I need to make more money than most these companies want to pay so thinking my only option is lease program?
I started with Swift flatbed, then went to Melton cuz flatbed company, but got tired of tarping just about every load so switched to Heartland but I don't like their system and peoplenet is more of a pain than qualcomm.

Might be but until then I will continue to out work most as I have always done, even those half my age as I did in the Army. I stay out longer cuz I have nothing to go home to, live in my truck as if I was an owner so just trying to get paid like one. Any ideas that might help, if not then move on.
I was also told to find someone about to retire and take over driving for them but that is easier said than done.

With the history you've revealed, leasing will not be a good option. Look you don't want to fail and leasing is a sure path to failure. Search leasing on this or any other board, the results are overwhelmed by negative reviews of leasing. Just like the military, you have to work your way to that pay.

How long have you been driving? That many job changes is not in your favor. Good luck though.

Swift lets people take over leases right? So does central? My info is a few years old, but I used to always bs with lease drivers waiting for Beer loads. Miles per week isn't the biggest aspect, but revenue per mile means a lot. 3300 might end up paying the same as 2900 miles with a different carrier, especially when you calculate in maintenance/wear/average load weight/routes/time lost to metro traffic etc. I wouldn't lease unless I already had 10k in reserves, and would choose a company with a 6 month or 1 year "walk away" option in the contract.

Leasing isn't for everyone, and it shouldn't be about just 'more' money. Leasing a truck is generally the first step towards being your own full-time boss.

If you have an honest desire to own and run your own trucking related business, then go ahead and do your due diligence on what companies are out there you can lease to, what they realistically offer and how leasing to them will benefit you and not them.

Quality (which is owned by Celadon) is only one of a few companies out there that leases trucks. Granted they are probably the easiest as they never turn down anyone who gets approval to lease onto one of their 30 or so partner companies. And a few of those partner companies are pretty decent as a starter lease company.

Just remember a few key points. Being a L/O is hard and it takes a lot of work and commitment to make it work. More than 75% of people who go L/O fail within the first year, especially if they haven't done their initial homework.

Just some thoughts. I'm not telling you not to do it, or what company to go with, just make sure your doing it for the right reasons. In many cases you can make just as much as a C/O for a decent company as a L/O can, especially if as you say you don't have a home to go to at present.

Take me for example, I was a C/O and bought a truck and leased it on to the company I was with. I did well with them for the first year then it went downhill fast, so I took my truck to another company that gave me more freedom and a little better pay and I excelled. However, when my truck started to cost more to operate and maintain than it was worth I became a C/O again instead of getting another truck and actually ended up making nearly the exact same thing I was was making as a L/O. (for the naysayers this last year as a C/O I took home 79k after taxes.) Unfortunately for me the company I am currently with has lost the contract I'm on, so the good money is gone and I'm looking for a new gig.

This was a bit long winded and I'm sorry for that. But bottom line, do your research carefully and thoroughly, and make sure your going to L/O for the right reasons. I would also check into other companies and get honest information to see if you can improve your financial situation at a companies expense rather than your own before making the leap.

If you're paying for a truck you shouldnt be thinking in terms of miles miles miles!
Get on Percentage and do shorter loads.. you'll far better than all this .90 to $1 mileage contract crap that's out there.
