Check out Stealth Camping on youtube. Lots of videos of Americans opting to live off-grid and vlogging their life. My next vehicle is probably going to be a motorhome. Being a truck driver you know you can sleep anywhere you park and a motorhome can park in many more places a big truck couldn't. Plus if the Man said to move, you wouldn't have to worry about being out of hours.

Sounds good in theory but doesn't translate into real world reality.

I know one guy who did this when he ran for FFE out of the railyards in Harrisburg, PA. Cept he lived in his at the TA off of exit 77, I81. Not sure what kind of deal he had with the management there. I think his wife moved out to CA so they just got rid of their place or something, and he eventually moved out to CA too. Stuff like this CAN work, and be financially viable.

The owner of one company I worked for had HIS motorhome, plugged in, parked across from the door to the employee's entrance and the ground floor conference room with his shower added to the adjoining rest room when it was built on. Kept his boat tied up at the other terminal...

I personally would love to life out of a stealth van or camper and roam the country but there's a huge conundrum. You need money to live this lifestyle and to get money you need to be tied down to a job in one place.
Regarding the OP's question it might work but the time you'll save commuting home you'll waste on the weekends doing RV maintenance. I worked a local job before where I drove a truck with a sleeper and just slept in the yard sometimes if I didn't feel like driving an hour to go home. -
This was being linked around a while back...

Came back to check up on my thread. Maybe I'm just looking for an excuse to buy another toy, in this case a motorhome. After doing OTR a couple years now, I see how feasible it is to live out of a vehicle. Then the idea of having a kitchen, bathroom, and a toilet sounds wonderful. Especially in a vehicle that's easy to park. Only problem is you can't haul freight in it. Unless you have a huge obese girlfriend, then you might want to hit a CAT scale to be safe.
