    Don,
I wouldn't let most Swift shops check the oil on my truck , especially Jonestown , with the exception of Richmond . There are two outstanding shop foremen there who work overlapping four day shifts .

Neal works Wednesday through Saturday and Tom works Sunday through Wednesday . Also the shop manager , Jacob is hands on instead of an office lurker . Make sure they know you're an owner and they will bend over backwards to get you back on the road . Both came to work at Swift solely for the health insurance for their kids . Tell them Frank with the silver Prostar sent you .

There's also steady freight out of Richmond especially from Cal Cartage in Suffolk going to Target DCs even as far east as Tyler , TX. Their freight is planned by Jonestown .

I only spend about 2.5 -3 hours each day to figure and plan my next day's and week's business. Always looking at maps (whether to run toll roads or not), running the calculators, searching for the cheapest fuel, cheapest service, whether or not I should split break or wait to cross that state border before getting fuel, stuff like that.

    OK.

I thought that you spent a LOT of time planning all those little details. I guess I was wrong.

I don't spend that a month ... and that includes doing my payroll and monthly S corp taxes.

Hey, thank you for your reply. Yes, I only do the east coast maybe just once a yr, I really can't stand being east of Ohio. I did go to the Richmond shop early last yr and honestly was impressed with the foreman and mechanic who worked on my trk, plus got two new steer tires they gave me a real good deal on.

And yes that was exactly how I was disp, Suffolk, a decent easy place to load and was drop/hook. And I can't remember where it del'd to, but it wasn't on the east coast, yeah!

Well its the labor rate that is really motivating me to get what I need done at a Swift shop. I priced the work of getting an oil pan gasket replaced at a TA, $300, I figure it should only be about $100 with swift doing it. The only thing I really hate is the oil they are going to put back into the truck, most use Rotella, and I prefer Delvac. So I am just gonna get a "B" service along with the gasket replacement.

Actually Denver, is by far my favorite shop, and if you ever need a good oil change, go to the TA in Commerce City, around the corner from the term, so to speak, they give a Swift discount on the price,
plus if you grab one of the TA calendars, there are $20 coupons off the price of an oil change. Altogether its a pretty good deal.

And, as far as talking about bad experiences with some Swift shops, if we all started sharing them, there may not be enough room in cyber space for them all. LOL,

But, I have a mental list of outside shops that I avoid, and think are the worst, or maybe marginal on a good day. So, Swift shops are in a way, on a par with the rest of the industry for its service and repairs. Some good, some bad, some in between.

Thank you again for your post. That just feels like its the right direction to go in. Thanx!

No they don't, unless something has changed. Because I usually only get my oil changes at TA/Petros, and ask, and had one tell me they could lose their job if they did. But for over the last year, I now only go to Commerce City, CO, so if across the board, its a universal policy change, then I didn't know that. Thanx for the update.

Been getting a discount at every TA and Petro I've gone to, all over the country, for more than 5 years.

Just walk in and tell them I'm with Swift. I pay for PMs out of pocket. No need to kick $30 to on road for minor expenses.
