True, but it you really look at the long trains, you normally do not see that many Swift. Mostly always JB and containers.

    Foristell, MO.

I stopped a bit early to get out of the wind. It's not like I am pressed for time.

I got to the shipper at 0900 this morning and was told that my appointment wasn't until 1400. She said she would see if they could get to me early.
She called the forklift driver, he gave me a door and started loading me within 10 minutes of bumping the dock.
5 minutes later he is pounding on the trailer to let me know that I'm all done.
1 pallet loaded with 3 tents, 3 folding chairs and an air pump.
    234 pounds, including the pallet.

That is a new record for me.
Another Swift driver that came in as I was about to get the BOL was finished by the time I left there. Looks like he had a similar load.

How can it be economical to hire a big rig to haul 7 pieces totaling 234 pounds over 900 miles?
Not that I'm complaining, I could use the miles.
Amazon must be printing their own currency.

Well, was sent another pplan and before a chance to ask about it, removed, but was told the only way to get me out of IA. DH 212 miles to MOMs in MN and take to Olney, IL, about 350 miles from my home and nothing backing it up. I think that my DM was confused because at first said that it was the only way to get me out of MN. Now I think that I know why such a problem getting pplans, my DM forgets where I am, plus if there was a back up, would not have attempted to head North today with these winds here. At about 30mph gusting to over 40, out of the NW, and 200 miles with mt trailer, not happening. I have this bad feeling for the weekend.

Finished my 3000 mile load down to Miami Fl Wednesday. Broker agents blowing up my phone to try to get me a load out of Miami. Too cheap. Plus it would cause me to sit all weekend. Called Atlanta and Charlotte terminals for outbound opportunities, ATL says 1 load going to Baltimore, umm no thanks Charlotte 1 load going to Indianapolis, OK. Woke up this morning feeling sick so this short run over there due on Monday morning will be a blessing, feeling very tired only 45 minutes left on the 70.

My friend, your almost funny with your constant worrying over high winds. The only time, I have even seen any trucks blown over, it was caused by what is called, "micro burst" Kind of like a mini tornado.

I have seen an rv in WY on 25 once, but never any trucks blown over due to the winds.

I am not saying it couldn't happen, but in all honesty, I don't think it ever does.

    just thoughts.

    Rugerfan and Buckeye91 Thank this.

And, as an after thought, the night they had the tornado go through Jopin, MO, several yrs back. I drove through there hours after it happened, and it looked like a war zone, with about 20 trucks blown over in ditches, the median, and so forth.

But never directly due to mild wind gusts of 30 or so mph.

Maybe because once many years ago I was caught in a gust of wind that spun me 180 degrees and down an embankment, when mt and on slushy roads. Since then, I have a new respect and once over 20 years ago going over a bridge with gusting winds and the front end of my truck was lifted. . If you think that it can not happen then why the sign on I-80 when high winds and lite trailers advisory. Let it happen to you just once and you might then have just a little more respect for mother nature

I've seen plenty, especially along I-80 in WY.

I've shut down many times for 50-60mph gusts along that stretch, even with 35k+ in the box.
The next day I'll many times see 2 or 3 trucks in the ditch. Some of them seemed to be loaded pretty heavy.

Today I have less than 250 pounds in the box.
I shut down early because I got tired of/from fighting 40mph gusts.

Never take a high wind warning lightly, especially if you are light or top heavy.

I totally agree, it does really just take something happening just once, to teach us. Or to use the expression, "to put the fear of God in us."

I have had mine too, in WY, but only with slushly roads and almost bald drive tires, then loosing traction when trying to go faster then 35 mph.

I understand your concern now, I hope you know I wrote what I did in a humorous spirit, and meant nothing by it.
