Most companies (not all) won't care. I got my start at Stevens Transport, they claim they care, but as long as you can shift, that's what matters. I've never double clutched and they only said something once, but realized I could float fairly well and that was the end of it.

    What @Razorwyr said.
Hell, it's been so long I don't know if I could even double clutch myself, and I've been out here over 16 years. Matter of fact, I don't believe I ever did DC outside of the one time my old boss taught me how to.

What school was this?By law they are required to teach double clutching. How did you get your CDL?I do find this hard to believe that your school didn't teach double clutching.Anyway more Then likely you won't need to worry about that with trainer he will probably be glad you can float.

I ask my instructor when he told us the first day we would be floating gear's,don't we have to double clutch to pass the CDL test,he stated in 2012 the law was changed in Texas.Did not argue,he has over 2 million miles drive time.

They should have taught you all how to use the clutch in case the motor carrier required it when taking road test.

If you can float you can clutch, same motions and timing but add two quick stabs with the foot. What did they say on your driving exam? They used to fail people for floating, something about you "coasting" without the clutch depressed.
