I've seen it on some trucks but mostly those dealing with hazmat(tankers in particular). I know the frustration first hand- Western Express' trucks are limited to 63 mph,64 if the cruise control is engaged (Marten's a little faster- 65 mph-66 to 67 with cruise control). It's a PITA when you trying to pass someone when all of a sudden they decide they want to speed up when they see a semi trying to pass them. This happens with four wheelers and big trucks alike.

My experience at Roehl wasn't anything like the op. I ran out of Ellenwood and I was a trainer.
The only thing I would say is they do have a lot of hand holding, but you have to remember they are a training company. by definition, there's going to be a LOT of micro-management when the majority of your fleet has less than 2 years experience.
But, if you prove yourself to be a reliable driver, they generally leave you alone.
Of course, running stop signs, flipping the bird at people. Etc... Are not generally things they consider as "proving yourself a reliable driver".
