Lol I'd have to be a fly on the wall for that one!! Actually I've met a lot of guys from Germany, Asian countries like the Philippines and South Korea a few Russians and even some East Indians who spoke good English and it no problem Communicating or understanding them. My girl is from Philippines herself and her English is quite good, not to mention 90% of the bands I listen to are from Europe. I think the completely non-English speaking drivers get recruited and trafficked into the country and basically thrown to the wolves with little to no training or time to familiarize themselves with the language or the regulations here.

Anybody know anything about Wawona Foods in Clovis, CA? Have a pickup appt tomorrow at 13:00 but was wondering if they allow early arrival/loading. I ran out of hours today at the Bakersfield J (2 hours away), but hate to sit around for all that time in the morning if I thought I might get attended to early and I pickup some good hours tomorrow and prefer to get going as early as practical.

Not sure about the one in Clovis but the one in Fresno which might be the same one will send you over to US cold storage to load and they loaded me 2 hrs early. This probably doesn't help much but depends if you load at their facility or send to the cold storage

Mine did that on me last month. Had to get home for a doctors appointment and I decided to wait until I got back out of the house. It'll be interesting to see how these new thermo King units GPT is buying will work out.

Agreed, from the driver standpoint, Thermo-King in the newer 2014+ Freightliners is far superior to any Carrier system APU. However, I've talked with one of the senior shop guys at Holland and they seem to be sold on Carrier and are generally anti-ThermoKing ... at least in terms of reefer units, but I assume this attitudes carries over to APU's as well.

I have heard a lot of good things about the new TK Apu's . But I had a lot of trouble back in 2007-8, I understand that's a long time ago now. But back then they came with 60 amp alternators . Even back then I ran a lot of electronics in my truck off the inverter and blew out a few TK alternators.

I don't know what their alternators are like now. And I don't know the amperage of the Carrier alternators, but I run even more electronics now and haven't had any problems. I will say here at Holland you need to make sure that curtain is not blocking the fans and air circulation of the inverter to keep it cool.

The TK engines have always been quieter which I like, but that leads me to wonder if the power is sacrificed for the more quiet. Of course if you don't run two TVs, an Xbox, computer, charging various devices, and cooking, you might not need the power. But I like Carrier simply for the reason that I have not had a problem with power.

Wawona Foods, Clovis, CA - Great shipper and good people to deal with. I arrived 1.5 hours early for my 13:00 and got right to a dock and loaded. They will blow out your trailer to remove minor wood chips and debris. Make sure you're below -5, pull on scale and check in at window next to scale.
