Yeah, I'm gonna just stay company for now and continue building cash savings and look for that pre-emission truck. Might even have to jump on one and continue as a company driver while I go over it with a fine tooth comb.
Best truck for $50-60k

I would think really hard on the Maxxforce engine. Take it from me i've had headaches on those engines. The fact that it wasn't my truck and a company truck but would be in the dealership almost every time i went home was bad enough. I am in the hunt for a truck myself however I'm not desperate too buy some Crapforce engine just because the price is so low. The truck maybe worth $30,000 with less than 400k on the odometer but I guarantee you its not worth it. Besides you have too look at the future with a Maxxforce engine. If you may recall, Navistar is in a huge heep of dog pile from the Federal Govt and a few mega companies because of their non-emission friendly engine. Even still the Maintenance for those engines are just by far the worst in my opinion. Reason why alot of Dealers are selling them so Cheap. Personally me myself I'm looking for a Pre-Emission truck. As long as I can still run the lower 47 states (California) I would stay either Pre-Emission or Glider.

Hey DudeAbides...I personally like the Freighliner with a DD15....Try to get into the newer trucks from 2011 on up.What alot of people arent telling about getting an older truck is that Unless you have your own Authority and can do what u want as a Carrier, then most of these companies out here dont let you Lease on with them if your truck is older than 7 years old and maybe 4 years old especially if you Run Reefer. You can buy that old 10-20 year old truck and find your options Limited..And this is the Truth my Friend
sportsluvr4lfe and TheDudeAbides Thank this. -
Those are the companies you don't need to waste your time on anyway.
I was just reading in another thread where a guy with a newer freightliner with a dd15 paid over 3k to have a coolant module replaced. I've seen guys spend over 12k on replacing emissions equipment on newer trucks than an inframe would cost on a pre get truck! No thanksTheDudeAbides and TruckerNerd Thank this. -
$55K will get a nice 2002-2006 pre-emission Western Star with a reliable Detroit in it.
You can thank me later.
