I have Glamdring. One of the coolest gifts I've ever received. If I wasn't so worried about damaging it, I'd roll through a scalehouse with it out the window in the 'charge' posture just to see what would happen.

I'll make this simple, I have a list of things that are supposed to be off limits in a truck created by a legal firm I hired before my lawyer was doing my company business.
It is a long long list, so here goes.
Fireworks
Explosives
Military armament - rocket launchers, etc.
Any alcohol products that are not for medicinal purposes - this includes any beverage that may look or taste like it has alcohol in it.
Any items that you would not see in public like a class III weapon
That's the list.
I know it makes no sense but it is what was recommended never to be on a truck of mine without a BOL.
Now there is a couple of other items that I recommend.
If you want an effective person repellent, get bear spray. Wasp spray as one of my drivers found out doesn't do well with someone who is on heavy drugs (The cops tased this guy a couple times and still had to four cops tackle him to stop him, he actually smashed up the mirror and broke the window on the truck with his head). SO I went out and ordered a case of bear spray to give one each of my drivers - they are not allowed to have firearms on board per the contract, the wasp spray could be questioned but not bear spray. We had pepper spray but we had a couple issues with Ohio and a Chicago cop who confiscated a couple of them from drivers, so bear spray is a little weaker but legal everywhere, especially into and out of Canada.
Speaking of Canada, you may go there and wander into a drug store to pick up some aspirin or Tylenol, beware that if you get Tylenol #1, it is illegal here. -
It isn't JUST the measurement of the sleeper (which would be pretty obvious as "legal" from outside of the truck on most T/T's. If you have claimed "sleeper berth" time, they can check for a whole list of things required by the regulations, including bedding and restraints. They do not need a warrant or probable cause, or consent to enforce compliance with the regulations...but if they see anything in plain sight (such as empty beer cans in the waste basket, etc...) during that compliance check that would give them probable cause, then they can search w/o a warrant or consent.

There is one occasion where it is legal to carry alcohol in the truck that is not listed on the bills of lading. That is when the truck is being used for personal conveyance it is perfectly legal to go down to the liquor store and transport all the booze you want.

Tis true. I have tried for years to get truckers to understand you cant hide behind the 4th amendment while in any vehicle much less a CMV in what is a very heavily regulated industry. Conduct yourselves accordingly. Truckers can and have lost radar detectors, Linear CB amplifiers (seen it with my own eyes in Texas during a CVSA June inspection), drugs like cocaine and marijuana, firearms (seen it during an inspection on I 81 in New York) and lots of Alcohol.

Not in the cab. Strap it to your cat walk maybe. I would never drive with it in cab. I don't drink so I don't have to worryLast edited: May 30, 2016

Be careful with this though. Yes it is true that in the guidance section of 392.5 it is clearly stated driving a CMV like this is outside the scope of 392.5. Just remember that driving a CMV in this manner is mostly intrastate driving and MAY be prohibited per a state intrastate CMV regulation. Now I know of no state that does this, but prudence demands you should check this out before you place alcohol in a CMV like this.
