Sorry I dont know about their local company positions. I can tell you there are a bunch of owner/operators running local over here in Chicago. Like I said I run for an Agent of Falcon who owns a terminal in East Chicago Indiana and one in Wampum Pennsylvania. I only deal through his offices, Ive talked to a couple of people over the phone in Youngstown Ohio to get fuel advances and they seem nice and helpful.

I know nothing about Falcon from the inside but I can say a few things about them since I have shared the road with them for the 7 years I have been out here.
The drivers seem real polite on the road. They tend to mind their business and do their job.
I think they run to Dallas quite a bit. I have rarely seen one of them off the 71/70/57/55/40/30 route to Dallas. I've seen them there in Dallas but never past. I would imagine they service a few customers and that's it.
1071 drivers according to Safe Stat

1036 drivers per the website you mention DNA.

Well, my husband has been with Falcon for almost 4 months and its been 4 months of living He$$. He seen a add in the paper looking for a driver for Dedicated from Birmingham, AL to Shreveport, LA. He went thru the training up in Gary, IN. Cost us alot of money but the plus is he was fully reimbursed for all travel expenses. He got seated in his own truck on June 23rd and since then he's barely made any money. The "dedicated job" he was hired for was no longer available, he has been stuck in texas 3 times now. This week he has only 2 loads because of 3 day lay overs in texas with no loads. We are currently looking for something else for him. So if any of you have any idea's on a company with good pay and decent home time it would be appreciated. We can barely afford to get by and keep him on the road. He hasn't been home in 2 weeks now (another weekend lay over this weekend).
Thanks -
Good luck TruckersWife. I can't help you much because all of the companies I have been with in the last several years have turned out to be worthless. Just so you know, your not in it alone. But take a stand on this one and get him out of there ASAP. Drivers that take this abuse are just as guilty as the people abusing them. BOL

Sorry to hear about your problems with Falcon. I know freight has been slow for the past two weeks. Wish you the best

I am currently Looking at starting my carrer at one of 3 company's.
CFI/Con-way
Falcon
Or
CRST
CRST I like because I currently do not have a CDL and they are the cheapiest way to get one. My Credit sucks so Getting a Loan for most schools is not possible. Any advice on these company's or others that may do there own schools. Any Advice would be most appreciated Thanks. -
I just got out of Falcon training Gary Indiana, 9-11-08.
Very tough place, Falcon is a good company with just a few exceptions.
Gary is a total #### hole, abandoned and run down, really quite pathetic.
The super 8 hotel was decent and transportation was available to the training center.
I drove my own car there and Falcon paid for fuel, lodging and meals.
The instructors were o.k., we filled out more paper work than you could believe.
I received my employee number and still I was not convinced I was actually hired.
We had to do trip planning and fill out the good old outdated paper log book.
That is another antique outdated waste of paper as with Google earth,
GPS and map quest you could pretty much find where you need to be,
pick up or delivery.
In my opinion it is a worthless waste of paper unless you need it for toilet paper.
The trucks for the student drivers had between 5 and 6 hundred thousand miles,
bare bones rough riding Internationals with 10 speeds,
a 13 letter chicken #### spreader--
although they were updating their fleet to automatics.
Internationals are the worst riding truck I have been in, if your back is good, it will be bad when you get out of one.
You are not allowed to float the gears and double clutching is a pain in the ##*.
No matter how good you drive a truck if you have trouble shifting a 10 speed they ship you home.
I have nothing to gain by lying.
We had several tasks to perform, 45 degree backing, blind side, and I even was able to stand a cone on edge with the left rear tire on a 53 foot flatbed.
You can forget about driving a van for them all they want is steel haulers, 45 thousand pound coils.
Hard work, better be secure, if one came off a trailer the damage is beyond imagination.
The instructor I had was an ex marine who was totally full of himself always bragging about his women and tattoo's,
his focus was limited to how cool he thought he was,an ego maniac,
unless you were kissing his ##* you were not going anywhere fast.
The whole time you road test with these people they constantly tell you how to drive, where to stop, how far to pull out, like driving with your mother in law.
It is hard enough to drive something you are not used to let alone all of the distraction of someone giving you a road test with all the watching and trying to shift properly.
I performed all of my tasks very well other than driving a truck with a 10 speed, I just was not used to them. 15 min. at a time, is all you get to drive them junkers.
You will never get a chance to become used to the truck.
Also there was two other guys in the truck and my time was cut short due to him ready to crap in his pants.
We had to stop and that cut my time.
I could blind side back, line back, off set,45 degree, basically drive it up your Hershey highway but I had trouble shifting the Eaton 10 speed.
I passed all of the tests except fighting the trans, which I blame the school I went to for not training you properly.
All of these guys floated the gears when they drove, but you cannot.
I also was planning a trip assignment using a map and a log book,
I was told the first one was for practice and the second one for your final grade.
I ran out of work sheets and used a log paper from a practice book and
was yelled at for tearing the page out.
I said I had no choice because I had to turn in the homework.
I was then lied to, my second trip plan was perfect, they told me it was not right, I said bull ####.
A few seasoned truck drivers taught me the night before at the hotel,
and these guys were very helpful.
They thought it was one of the easiest plans.
The paper log matched the trip plan to the T.
All of us could not be wrong.
But due to the ex-marine instructor and me not kissing his lying ##*,
I was told I was not safe to drive and sent home.
I thought dam, how could I pass all of the tests and class room
instruction and get walking papers.
The instructor himself told us he wiped out a truck, jack knifed and had an accident but he still could be an instructor after working there a few years.
All he really wanted to do was hang out with another instructor who was an ex marine, smoke cigarettes and talk about all these women he was
in bed with and how cool he thought he was.
They were about thirty years old, I am 47.
And all the text's he was writing on his cell phone besides.
A legend in his own mind.
Anyone lying about having all these women is lying or paying for it.
I kept to myself and did the very best I could.
All said and done I still like the company itself, instructors leave much to be desired.
I was not thrilled about hauling steel coils anyway. I do need a job and was more than willing to work at it.
I have a spotless driving record and no criminal record or debts that would have stopped me from getting employment,
and a solid work history.
My flaw was not shifting a 10 speed as good as they wanted, and I blame the school I went to,
also we were only taught paper logging for about thirty minutes
and was not prepared for this task once you do get to a training school.
It's ironic that I could drive and shift fine enough to pass the class and the state of Michigan exam.
If you try them I wish you well. Be prepared to kiss ##*, something I will not do.
Again, I have no reason to lie as I admit my own flaws. -
Do they have thier own Training School? And what is the cost for school Out of pocket?
-
I went to a trucking school and was pre hired to go there.
Do a web search and you will find the information your after.
They have their own site. Not sure if they finance any student drivers.
They will pay your school loan if you actually get hired in the first place.
Good Luck.
