Day cab ?

 

The good news is, they have a banner on the fence needing drivers out of this terminal, the bad news is, you have to live near this terminal...or have a looooong commute from your house. And the ltl, linehaul and dedicated drivers pull dry vans so you could get your sleep.

 

I wouldn't do day-cab from my home-town.

I'd just get too bored, too fast. Same-old, same-old, and for usually less money. If I was to do something other than OTR driving, I'd probably go back into sales and marketing, where at least I could have a hope of making similar money, and every sale is unique, so boredom isn't the issue.

 

I use to think like that, but I just passed my 21st anniversary of being OTR...I've seen enough of the road. Unfortunately, I missed 2 local jobs paying similar to what I take home here, and 1 had company paid health insurance for the driver. But it was right before my wife's surgery, so I had to pass.

 

If it was a day job, I couldn't do the driving. Just that simple. I would go insane with the same thing, EVERY day. I could make about the same doing other things that wouldn't make me crazy bored in three weeks. that's just me.

I can run CR to Oregon every week and never get bored over that 3-day run. Run me from Yakima, to Portland, to Mabton, WA, to Wapato, WA everyday? I'd go insane in three weeks. -And that's a specific run I could get on.

 

Where do you guys park for Sygma in Ft Worth? I know you can park on the street but I want to try and get a restart in. My appt isn't until 2200 on Monday. Is there any suggestions for close by that I won't get asked to move. Thanks

 

There is the Love's and the QT south of there a few miles, but ya gotta get there early because they both fill up quick. Or, the Peelot way north of there, but again, it fills up quick

 

I've never had any luck at the Pilot. I think it's full 24 hrs a day!

 

I usually rent a spot the day before.

 

I sometimes skip or drive to the Walmart in White Settlement, lots of food options and its truck friendly
