What I usually do in cases like that is send my arrival message that night when I get there so I'm there "on time" then get emptied in the morning whenever they are ready for me. Then when my ten hour break is up I go on duty for my pre trip and delivery time, send my empty call, then hit the road.

I'm not much one for falsifying my logs.

You can send your Arrival hours or even days ahead of time. Then while on your 10 hour break 'falsify' by moving around off duty to back up to the docks for unloading. Same thing we used to do on paper logs when you wanted to make a steady paycheck. The beauty of Elogs is that the Man thinks they are uncheat-able so one can really commit murder with them and score huge paychecks if you know how to trim and skim.

It's not falsifying, it's just working the system.

You've probably already had this thought, but after a couple of these Andrea vacation meltdowns I came to the conclusion that it was better to just take time off when she did. Either that or be switched to the OTR fleet while she's gone, then have her grab ya back when she returns. -
Thanks. Andrea had me planned up to Saturday. This is when everything went hinky. Was talking to my terminal today and there are 3 drivers sitting in Dandridge right now waiting for a load because who ever put crap in the system placed them in 05 fleet and not ours, so they are sitting until tomorrow night and Monday morning. The issue was Atlanta planners. This has been a messed up day. Got to the receiver and they are closed. Waited almost 4 hours for CSR to take care of the problem, and when they did, drop the trailer right across the street in the large Petco DC. Then forget my pplan. No way that I could find a empty and get to Costco. They are hurting for trailers. Costco turned away 3 by the time that I dropped my trailer. Good chance that I am sitting here until Monday at this new Petro, exit 240 off I-55. Have this bad feeling, bt to Augusta and get one to Dandridge since there are quite a few there ready to go, but not in the system, so looks like 1800 ldd for the week and almost 600 mt. Am I back in OTR again

So what was all that talk about freight picking up?
I'm in Spokane, WA.
I shut down at around 1800 last night and it wasn't until 1100 that I got a pplan. Not a good one, either.
Less than 300 miles going back to the Seattle area for a Monday morning delivery. The system said 0001, I said 0600.
I was afraid to turn it down, considering there were several other Swift trucks at the J with me. They were there when I arrived, and I was the first to leave. Maybe one or more turned it down before I took it.
I'd rather have 300 miles for the weekend rather than turn it down and then sit until Monday. -
You would pass out at what is routinely done (with regard to logs) near the ports.
I pulled into line (to pick up my load) with 20 minutes left on my 14. It took 2 hours to make it to the kiosk, by the time I had my container and checked out I was on duty over 16 1/2 hours. Since I never showed any drive time (I parked less than 1/4 mile from the port) it was all legal.Rugerfan Thanks this. -
I know, I know.
I just try to avoid that sort of thing.
And I really wish more drivers would.
Get the load there when 'they' want it there!
While in the mean time trying to stay within regulations.
If more drivers would adhere strictly to the regulations, well, maybe some of those regulations would be rescinded.
That aside, I don't care when 'they' want it there.
I will run my load on my time schedule.
Everyone wants to run harder and faster and closer for the buck.
Me?
I do it because I like driving and doing the job.
But I will NOT run myself into the ground doing it.
I see all those trucks running up on other trucks and cars, tailgating at 10 feet to get them to move out of the way.
And why?
Because they want to make an extra 5 miles for the day.
I really hate what this world has come to.
It is all about the quick buck and not letting anyone else ahead of you by any means.
It is all about beating and cheating.
What this world needs is another pole shift, or another great flood.Subutai Thanks this. -
But in the OTR world you're only hurting yourself by doing that. Not trying to start anything, just saying it only helps you to get it there the quickest way possible.
