In town, speed limit is 55 MPH - All cars go 80+ and semis are 65+.
Outskirts of town, speed limit is 70/60, cars go 55-60, semis go 50-55.
Like really?
At least Chicago has parts where there are no truck lane restrictions and I can drive around those jokers.

Two of us were running together one day and a truck goes around the truck behind me and pulls in between us. We were coming out of the Wolf Creek Canyon heading to Helena. I told the other driver that this guy would fall on his face when he hit the north hill. Sure enough we hit the hill and he fell on his face, got up and tripped on his dick and fell again. By the time we got to the top of the hill I could not see him in my mirrors. -
2013 volvo, D13 motor, 405 horses, Auto 10 speed, 55 mph, 8 - 9 mpg depends on how heavy I am. 7.5 mpg if I am over 44k. I find it very relaxing to do this speed. Volvo's are very "shaky" due to the steers being closer to the driver. I feel every twitch, but at 55 it is much less apparent. I rarely pass anyone or have to slow down let alone have to worry about speeding tickets. Yes I drive the west coast so the speed limit is 55 - 65 depending where your at. All in all it takes the stress out of the job and I am only averaging 2 mph less then when I drove 58 - 60, but getting almost 2 mpg better which my company loves.

Couble years ago, i was working for reefer company and they didnt worry about fuel so i drove the speed limit and little bit more some times.the Brand new cacadia evolution i was driving only was getting 5.4mpg. Now i have t680 500 hp 3:55.i do lot of east coast driving and always gross And i am getting 7.5mpg. If i had apu It would be 8mpg

My brother got me back into trucking when he was leased on to an outfit with a fixed $1.30 per paid mile. He couldn't scrape two nickels together. As a team he made less money due to fixed appointments slowing us down. I left to run as a company driver for Swift to get two years experience.
A couple of years ago my brother leased on with the oil outfit I joined last year. Even in slow weeks we gross more than double what he grossed back then, with fewer (but harder miles).
Sometimes we get long hauls and I try to book a backhaul from load boards. If I can't get at least $1.60 per mile on a backhaul I usually just deadhead home or to a better area. This last week I've been lucky. Back to back long hauls with 3000 miles grossing $10K to the truck and 200 miles deadhead. I pick up a $1600 load as a backhaul to complete the triangle on 650 miles. That's what? Three weeks worth of revenue for a $0.90 + FSC gig that burns three times as many miles? My 5.8 mpg average looks pretty good in that equation.Crackerjack71, TripleSix and Grijon Thank this. -
Set cruise at 58-62 most of the time. When my 70 hour clock gets down or running on thin recaps I go faster and generally use the foot to take care of that especially in rolling terrain.
Just about my favorite place for cruise is Nebraska on I 80 eastbound. Coming generally downhll off the continental divide, even at 70+ the other day was showing 9.4 mpg -
What ever speed limit is +3 mph.

Had a trainer bypass any limitations on the rig. Set it in nuetrual and let her go.
A touch of negative gravity was reached until the bags would hold em on that mountain for a few miles at 130+ 6%
