No, not Concord, Chicagoland again, for Sunday, then p/u Monday going to Fargo for Tuesday. I will probably drop my truck off for the cam warranty job. I spoke to Tony, he said he has many loaners, and even a few '17s I might be interested in. Told him he doesn't need to waste a new truck on me. I don't think he grasps the idea that my days here are numbered.
And how do you use a wasted day from piss poor planning to your advantage? Appointments 12 hours apart, but with travel time, not enough time to even get a split log break. Piss poor planning is piss poor planning no matter who is planned on the load. And it doesn't make it right.

@supersnackbar another point to consider regarding planning is the impact of the customers request on Magnum or any other company. No doubt we occasionally make a mistake, however, there are times when we are simply responding to our customers.
In my last career my team often ordered trucks and while most of the time we wanted the product delivered as quickly as the driver could, we also used delivery to extend terms. An example would be adding a day onto the shipment if it put the delivery into a new fiscal month for the customer or added a few days to their payment term. So when the driver arrives at the customer, of course they refuse early delivery.
My point is sure you hopefully will find a place where the insurance costs are lower and they run more like a Polly but beware because with the way we are running in this industry you might find that many companies are adding days...Pigbacon and supersnackbar Thank this. -

I guess I just don't look at everything as a personal attack on me. In your situation, I would have figured that it was a busy day at the shipper and they got me what appointment was available. I know I'm super important but sometimes the appointment for that day is the only one there is left. So instead of delaying for a day the dispatchers and planners who have faith in me figure I'll figure it out. I would have called ahead and reserved a parking spot at the J for which the 'uncaring' company I work for will reimburse me. Then I would hustle up and see if I can get loaded early. If not, oh well, I have a spot to park.
Then I would get up and roll out in the AM with a fresh clock, good nights sleep, shower and a dump.
Every load is different. Every day the clock gets managed different. And yes... Sometimes its inconvienient or not to my liking... But 90+% of the time it's pretty easy to figure out
But what do I know. I only have 2+ years experience and you have many more than that....
Let me add one more thing. When I get a load plan like you have I don't immediately think the company sucks and bad mouth them on here... I call up a few fellow drivers and tell them about my ####ty plan. They usually have helpful tips and suggestions. They also call me sometimes and I return the advise and such. After a phone call or two I can see it's not a big deal... Usually it's just me needing to change my maxi pad and man up.Hahaha...And it ALWAYS works out. They (Guys like Oor, xeres, winny, runningman and Pigbacon among others) also remind me that I am one small piece to the puzzle that the planners and dispatchers have to put together EVERY day. I can't see the rest of the puzzle. I don't have to know why.... I just take care of my piece....
This is where you explain where I am wrong or why it wouldn't work for you that way...Last edited: Jul 16, 2016

That dead horse around here is getting the heck beat out of it.....
SSB reminds me of the guy I met in CR lounge one time that said a GPS was a waste of money and took to long to program and Mapquest directions were the way to go. He would go to Hotels and ask them to print off directions for him, but a GPS took longer to program.cdavis188, mxpx148, HeavyHauler33 and 3 others Thank this. -
Some days you just have to remember we're here to solve the customer's problem, not the other way around.
HeavyHauler33 Thanks this. -

I didn't say to do anything illegal. I said reserve a spot so you know you had a place to park. But of course you have all the answers. If after my 14 I would stay on site if possible. I'm not a whiney #####. I use the bathroom before they close and again when they open. I guess I eat good enough the 'emergency' bathroom I have I have only used 2 times in 2 years. And I stay onsite a lot.
You always post like we are driving all over creation off the logs. Just not true.
I don't know why I even posted. You are the answer man. Always have an excuse.
I will be so interested to know your new company. But I bet you won't tell us. Your just that type of person. All complaints....no solutionsLast edited: Jul 16, 2016
