True story. My old route was 20% dock, 70% tailgate, then the rest was liftgate or inside deliveries. They booted me a few months back. My new route sucks...
Now moving half a dozen pallets of beer (2,600+ lbs) every other day with a manual jack. Another thing that will make your day suck is if your dock crew loads a heavy item or two on pallets that have a configuration that is not compatible with your pallet jack.
I'm 35 but LTL is kicking my A.

One way to mitigate that issue with the four stringer pallets is to use a pallet jack with the most narrow forks possible, such as a Crown. It does make a difference.Dominick253 Thanks this.

Yeah, we don't get nice stuff like that. All the same pieces of crap... think they are hysters. How the brand escapes my head is beyond me. I battle it long enough on a daily basis
-
I was using a Lift-Rite for a while. They have 7 inch wide forks. A Crown on the other hand has 6 inch forks.
We have to buy our own, so most of us use Crowns. -
You have to buy your own?!?! Are you serious?TequilaSunrise and Dominick253 Thank this.
-
If I'm not mistaken, R&L drivers have to buy their own.
Edit: I've heard that if the driver has something at stake, they won't leave pallet jacks at stops.TequilaSunrise and carramrod32 Thank this. -
We had an idiot dock worker that somehow loaded one of our jacks into a trailer that was bound for Cali.... yeah, we never saw that piece of equipment again. How would a carrier handle it if another employee lost your jack?Dominick253 Thanks this.

I'm not sure, but I wouldn't be pleased if a dock worker practically stole $500 from me.
Dominick253 and Giuseppe Ventolucci Thank this. -
They do, and so do we unfortunately...Dominick253 Thanks this.

Hell, I'd be fit to be tied.
Dominick253 and carl320 Thank this.
