He wasn't detained the vehicle was.He could have walked away It is perfectly legal to tow a illegally parked vehicle. Not that I agree with not letting them park. But legally they can do what they did it was posted. Morally is another thing.

Well in today's world the whole thing is plain dangerous and I won't be parking there. Given the violence and the number of truckers who are armed I wouldn't want to be the person putting a boot on anyone's truck.
Most if not all of the places I check with give me an answer and the others I verify, I'm cheap and prefer free parking so I work at it, but in the end I am lucky and my company does not have a problem if I need to reserve a spot. I only wish the reserved parking at truck stops could be paid via your Comdata card. This would help out so many truckers who are short on cash.
At some point with the elog change parking is going to be more of a problem, right now it's an annoyance mostly, but I can see a time where the economy improves and the parking situation around major cities becomes as bad as it is in the SF Bay area. -
North Carolina absolutely made it illegal to park in the weigh stations at any time for any reason. -
I teach and share something that has kept us out of trouble with the street urchins and parasites over all these years. We usually either parked on or near a mountain about a hour or two from downtown major cities or large towns with known gangs, murders etc where possible. Parked in a good stop about the same distance from major cities like Chicago. IN deliver and get out. Never to sleep or stay anywhere downtown any city. Thugs cannot walk the distance to bother us in rural areas far from city.
I can imagine how bad things are getting, if Little Rock is any indication over the years. I rather not go out there anywhere without arms Period. Employers be ######. Paper don't stop thugs from pulling and firing on you. Better Jury of 12 than carried by 6 due to employer pansy rules.... -
Everybody wants to park close to their consignee so they can get unloaded and still have enough time on your clock to be planned and pick up another load. The reality of that happening is getting farther and farther from being a possibility. Just the trend trucking has been going in the last few years.
You have to be aware of the parking situation when you sign up to work for one of these piece work outfits. If you have to park out in the sticks with a customers load, run it in early in the morning, and then skedaddle out of town before they invite you to leave, you are not going to make the miles or the money that you could otherwise like in years past. Your whole day gets wasted on one load and a whole other day gets wasted on a unload. With lengths of haul dropping now to around 400 miles average, you basically spending two days running 400 miles. Just something to consider when you go work for CPM. Something that is only going to get worse not better.icsheeple and Canned Spam Thank this. -

If I were you I'd call an attorney just to see what they say.
It sounds fishy that if you were "illegally parked" then a LAW enforcement officer should be the one who gives you the fine, not a couple of clueless teenagers working for a "towing company".
Anyone can buy a parking boot online and go around making easy cash in parking lots pretending to be legit.
Did you get a receipt?
An attorney will tell you the local laws and will either say you're s.o.l. or he will say they shouldn't have done that to you and will file a motion in court to get you reimbursed. Even if they charge you $200 to file papers you will still get a big chunk back.tlalokay Thanks this. -
