American Transportation Institute is the ATA! http://atri-online.org

Good job at research. Repeating their propaganda and hating on the ATA at the same time.

ATI is just their to put a scientific sounding spin on the ATA's winning for more government subsidies. " We need some more government funded rest area's so we can expand, (no dump) our truckload model on clients that demand LTL services."

As the ATA has successfully diverted your sympathy for their problem to a cry for more taxpayer funded rest areas. All this freight can be delivered no matter what the customer wants. But if the customer want's a service that doesn't stay overnight, they either need to hire a LTL company, pay by the hour for detaining that truck, or quit taking advantage of the truck driver by stretching 15min unloads out to 8hours. It is a customer contractor problem; Unlike other business, the truckload companies have found that they don't have to mange their customer because they made a loophole to cheat their driver on pay.

First post but anyways. I just got booted at the hobby lobby $500 to get it off. I know it was my fault. That being said it would be nice if the signs are bigger so you can read them and simply knock on my door and I will leave. They just put the boot on 5 of us then knocked on the door and said give us $500 to take the boot off

I would almost be willing to bet the boots were NOT placed by Hobby Lobby employees, but rather by the tow company the property management company contracted with to remove unwanted vehicles. Much more profitable to hire a couple minimum wage kids to drive around in a small vehicle patrolling the lots and installing boots (several at a time) to keep trucks there until the wrecker arrives to haul them off. Those big wreckers are expensive to operate, and while they were hooking to the 1st truck, the other 4 would leave. This way, they think they'll get paid on all 5.

My thoughts exactly. I carry tools in my truck, and I'd give them the option of removing the device themselves...WITHOUT payment...or I cut the #### thing off and they can have the scraps. Those are the ONLY 2 options they have, because I WILL be leaving under my own power, and they are NOT getting a dime from me.

...and if their buddy with the wrecker shows up and tries to stop me, he'll need another wrecker to remove HIS truck.

I don't play well with others, especially when they mess with my ride. My best friend dern near lost his head when he jokingly popped one of those plastic bubble windows on a stupid topper I hated (but it was on "my" truck) so it was concave rather than convex...chased him down the street with a baseball bat...and he was my FRIEND! Never seen a fat kid run so fast in all my life, but he knew what would happen if I caught him before I cooled off. If I don't know you? The only guarantee I'll make is that it won't end well for you.

But he's not the only one 'round here who feels that way. Some folks don't seem to mind bending over and grabbing their ankles. The rest of us will do what we feel is necessary to avoid having that happen.

Hey I get it, I wouldn't boot trucks for any amount of money unless the police were directly involved, to many truckers with guns...

The owner if they were legit would be better off working with police instead of trying to screw truckers...

If they boot me I'm calling the cops to verify these guys are legit. Well, that's if the guys who did the booting are around. Otherwise I'm looking for ways to cut the boot right off and go on my way.

Its a money making scheme by Hobby Lobby. Google it and you will see they screwed a lot of drivers with it.

Hobby Lobby claims, "Oh it's not us its the real estate company leasing to us." Big surprise the real estate company claims just the opposite.

They price the booting "service" just under the price of a tow just to seem to make it legit, yet knowing full well they would have to wake and warn the driver if they did intend to town them out.
