Technology will never take the place of training people enough, especially when educating people about distracted driving. Even after all the laws passed it still won't stop idiots. My form of shock training for ANY license, and required training for anyone with a first time distracted driving conviction, would be a solid week of subjecting them to footage of the fatal accidents caused by dirt acted driving. And by that I mean uncensored with clear post mortem views of the victims as they are trapped in the wreckage. I know it sounds extreme, but if some people can't use any common sense, it needs to be "hammered" into them. Another thing would be the ultimate penalty for anyone who causes a fatal accident due to distracted driving. This "slap on the wrist" by just fining them and giving them CSA point isn't enough. Make an example of them and send a message: the next idiot who goes and kills someone because they are too stupid to put down the phone, will PAY. If fines and education won't work, then instill fear of the consequences.

I drive past that yesterday. There is no way the driver in the flatbed survived hitting that propane tank. I couldn't believe it didn't blow up but it was fully intact. The flatbed driver did one last good deed though, he secured his coils great, not a single one of them came loose.

Saw Indiana State Police working the block all along I-69 between Fort Wayne and Indianapolis. No surprise there, as most of the accidents in construction zones occurred on that freeway. They're not playing around anymore.

They shouldn't play around. Speeders, tailgaters, trucks in the wrong Lane, cars running 30 in the 45 zone, ticket them all with increased points and fines.

Illinois recently passed a temporary budget which I am guessing affected law enforcement. I too have notced an increased presence which can only lead to a revenue push.

Yup. Ran across 70 a couple times this past week and noticed increased presence through the Terre Haute construction. Seems Indiana is cracking down. Good for all of us.

This is probably just to deal with the "end of summer traffic surge, before school starts" that happens in the last weeks of August.

But their increased presence may cause as many problems as it solves.
