Slide your tandems to the rear...

    Yup even if you are droping just one pallet like I often do Only once the lady in receiving office was nice and told me just to park by the ramp and open doors.A guy with forklift came out,picked up the pallet,I picked up papers and was on my way.Total time spent at Walmart 15 min ,I made $50 LOVED IT!But it happened once only.Tried to convince other Walmarts to do same thing but they made go thru all that bs.

    Yeah avoid WD-40 if possible. It's a temporary fix at best that can drive out lubrication and speed up corrosion. There are many pics of newbie gun owners after they've sprayed their pistols with WD-40. They look like they've been sprayed with mild acid and baked. I'd try sillicone or penetrating oil.

    in cases like that, it's a mechanical failure. And usually you can move 1 hole at a time...push pin in, wedge it in with a spare door seal, slide...repeat.

    that works for the older "manual" pin type, a lot of the new trailers are 'air release' trailers with the little knob you pull. As soon as you release the brakes, the pins are released to lock.

    I just tell them that the company welds the axle assembly to the trailer so that the drivers won't get tickets for violating the 41' rule.

    Our older trailers ARE welded because of that, but the newer ones aren't. And yes, there's a QC message that comes through at least once per week (after someone gets an $800 ticket that they have to pay out of pocket) reminding everyone not to pull trailers with the tandems slid all the way back.

    I usually see this when I have a liftgate trailer. They can't understand why I can't slide the tandems all the way to the back. I have shown them why, and they still don't understand.

    The primary issue I have with my liftgate and loading docks is the dock restraint. The hook won't reach my bumper because of the trailer extension.

    $800? Twice last week I rolled out of Anheuseur Busch with the tandems past 40' because I didn't feel like backing into a dock. The first time I didn't have to cross a scale, the second time I had to right away, 40 lbs over on my drives, too. Guess I won't be doing that anymore if it's an $800 ticket. Trailer overloading MF'ers.

    Like I said. 50/50 ATF/acetone. Cheaper and far, far better than any commercially available penetrant. And when the acetone evaporates, the ATF stays behind and lubricates.

    And if you have your trailer setup like my reefer is I flip a switch on dash pull Johnny bar down and slide tandems makes it real slick in hard docks I can shorten or lengthen tandems without getting out of truck. Yard guy at one extremely hard place to back inside building laughs and says I can do it faster then he can with yard truck. Even slid them one time at scale when they had me go around for a weight and they couldn't figure out how the weight changed on trailer and I didn't stop.
