So I was running a home daily local route for online transportation running parts for Toyota here in Georgetown. Long story short I quit after they wanted me to unplug my Rand Elogs and get back and my truck breaking down (no exaggeration) 15 times since January one.
Well so I apply with SAIA, figured I would give the LTL game a shot. After working for 40cpm and 60-65 hrs m-f, figured it couldn't get worse. I was really surprised at what they had to offer. 21.85 start pay, top out at 25.12 in 18 months and time and a half after 40! Well working less hours for about the same income, it's a no brainer!!!
Headed up to Cincinnati on Monday to do my training on their paperwork and computer systems than back here the following week to start at my terminal in Lexington.
The only downfall about them was waiting the 1 1/2 months to contact me after applying. The wait is going to be well worth it!!!
My LTL adventure is about to begin with SAIA

Good luck with your new job! (FWIW, I liked LTL much better. Worked local P& D for a much smaller company.)

I wanted to get on line haul, but there just was never an opening. I was told one lh driver wanted to come off the road, but I guess he changed his mind...

That's actually a living wage. I'm envious.

Congrats LCFD15!! I'm a linehaul driver for SAIA in the "chicago region".. I've been to LEX once while running in the system, they were cool people. Based on what your old job was, I think you made a good choice because you'll end up making more money in less time.. Anyhow, good luck and keep us updated

Thanks everyone. I'm extremely excited for this better leap. Only had my cdl since November 2014 and everyone said I would need years of experience to snag anything like this. I'm just excited to get my rear out of the truck and moving around a lot more than I was.
Mike2633 Thanks this. -
You've not had your CDL even two years and you're already making more money than me well, on paper at least....
