I got to US Foods in Greensberg PA yesterday afternoon...Parked on site for a beautiful lightening and rain show that took the areas power down.
In a door at 0430 for a 0500 appt.
Pulled out at 0930... 2.5 hrs detention.
Drove up to US Foods in Altoona PA.... Got there at 1120 for my 1000 appt. pulled out at 1320.
Drove up to DuBois, PA for my 1330 appt. for a reload. Got here at 1520...
Put me right in a door and loading me already at 1530...
Took a couple State Hwys to get here... Interesting to say the least... A lot of hills... A couple really big hills and a 8% grade with a stoplight at the bottom...
All in a day's work!!
Headed to Melrose Pk, Il for tomorrow afternoon...Winnyf1 Thanks this. -
Stopped at the service place just before 480. Parking didn't look good around Bedford 20 miles out. Delivered at Halls in door by 6 for a 7 appt out at 7. Then drove around to the other side of building got right in the door(had a 1300 appt) left at 0900. Same guy that unloaded me loaded me.
Live load in Napoleosn at 1530 tomorrow going to Bloomington MN.Last edited: Aug 29, 2016

Snackbar rant warning!
For those that are intolerant to my many criticisms, avoid reading this post.
Where does this company get it's customers, tards-r-us.com? I swear, I have NEVER had so many slow loads/unloads, mis-loaded loads, screwed up pick up locations, screwed up schedules...or just plain arrogant or ignorant receivers. In the last month alone I have had customers forget to put properly labeled pallets on my trailer, for which I had to return to get reloaded, delays up to 10+ hours, brokers that keep you on hold forever, or play canned messages about computer issues. Had arrogant desk jockeys spout attitude after delaying us 5 or 6 hours (all without me saying a peep to instigate it). Today alone I sat over 7 hours to unload, and now I am sitting in a dirt lot waiting on a shipper to call, and it is 5+ hours after my pick up appointment. That is more than 12 hours of lost time. Last week, 4.5 hours at a Miller beer plant, 3.5 hours at the beer distributor, 4.5 hours on the next reload of 17 pallets of shingles. Does this company take the troubled customers no one else wants just so they can get the freight rates they require? Yes, we get detention pay, but compared to mileage pay (which dropped because of a lack of productivity due to delays, foul ups, and mis-planned loads), that doesn't even come close to what a driver needs to survive. The last 9 months has been one of the most screwed up experiences of my career, mostly due to screwed up loads. How can one company attract so many problem customers, and still stay in business is beyond me. And it isn't just because it's reefer freight. I have pulled temp controlled loads before without as many problems. This makes one wonder why or even how in hell they stay in business.
Rant over
Update...I am at almost 14 hours waiting to be loaded. If ever you get set up on a load from Aryzta in W. Columbia SC...do what ever you can to get out of it. Most of the Google Maps reviews about this place have the same theme as what I am experiencing.Last edited: Aug 30, 2016

Got yo Maines at 0635 for my 0730. Had bills in hand and leaving at 0702. Great place to unload.

What people take issue with is the constant bashing of Magnum, customers, and the employees that like it here.
You don't share with us when you have good experiences. You only share when you're so frustrated that you can't hold it in any longer.
You do have a legitimate complaint but there's not anything anyone can do about it. Magnum needs customers and these people pay the bills.
I myself get frustrated with waiting at a shipper and receiver for long periods of time.
Try so see the good part of getting the detention as Extra money, because you're still gonna get your money for driving!
Sorry you're going thru this.cdavis188, Winnyf1 and truckerman75103 Thank this. -
I understand some waiting is part of the game...but the excessive waits like this are unnecessary.
Detention pay ISN'T extra pay. It's lost revenue. There are only so many hours in a pay period. Sitting like this means those hours are non productive. If I were running down the road, averaging 55 mph, I would be making $25/hr. Instead I spend 6, 8, 15 hours waiting, that is costing me $10/hr from what I could be making. And since this happens so often, this is the reason I am only averaging 9700 miles a month...and why I keep seeing per mile pay cuts. Once in a while is normal to see this, but 2 out of every 3 loads? Every freeking week? In my 21 years, I would see the same amount of screwed up loads in a year as I see here in a month.
I simply thought I would warn others of some of these places, so they would avoid them if possible. I had such high hopes for Magnum...I wish I worked for the same Magnum as you...apparently I don'ttucker Thanks this.
