Ack!
I'm almost attracted to that.

The contact name alone is enough for me to run. I'd never work for a guy named Raj!
chilibowl and diesel drinker Thank this. -
The fact that it's 1099 and only 38-42, that's crazy.
diesel drinker Thanks this. -
.38 @ 5+ years exp. Just WOW.
And there is no such thing as a 1099 Employee. One is either an employee on a W2, or an Independent Contractor on 1099.
Yea, I'd be reporting to IRS if they make it easy to, otherwise just chuckle at the posting and move to the next crappy advert on on craigs.

.42 becomes .35 quickly when you have to pay all of your SS and Medicare taxes, instead of splitting it with your employer.
5 years experience and .35/mi? Heck no. -
Ditch Doctor and lcfd15 Thank this.

Thing is. Most of these companies expect to hire "questionable" individuals with questionable history and it stands to reason these same individuals probably consider the IRS as something only fools bother themselves with. So the idea proper taxes reporting might come into play is "ridiculous " and as such the job provides "free money" to those of the correct mindset.
Once you come to understand this, then you begin to understand why so many go down that road. And let's be honest, those here from out of the country can probably work decades "undetected". But the average American born and raised could NEVER expect the same treatment and will be brought to bear a few years later after cheating their taxes.Dharok and Toothpick1 Thank this.
