Now THAT would be great. Particularly if the trailer has something to anchor the straps to...

 

All of our trailers have the rail system where you can clip on a strap on each end. Funny story, one of our dockworkers accidentally snagged a strap with his forklift. It ripped a large chunk of rail panel off the trailer wall. He just shrugged his shoulders. It was his last day anyway

 

Are they looking for more dock workers?

 

Yeah. It's a pretty dire situation right now. We are also hurting on drivers. We are down two drivers. What my terminal doesn't know is they are about to be down three drivers.

 

Since I work with a bunch of strap cleptos, I keep no less than 7 (all ratchets too) in a bag I keep in my car trunk, along with a drag hook, and a couple flashlights, and two pairs of gloves.

 

I don't do ratchet straps. I once ruined a $2000 refrigerator cause the applied tension caused compression damage. Of course I didn't fess up to it, but I felt bad enough about it to where I don't use that style anymore.

I came from a flatbed background and I overtighten freight. I only use the buckle straps now.

 

That is one thing that I never ran into with my last outfit. I could, and did leave straps, chains, pallet puller and various tools in that tractor, and never had any of them taken. The only risk to that where I worked would be if there was some type of emergency where they needed to take my tractor to another dock for a bit. However, since I smoked cigars, nobody wanted to drive mine anyway!
