The I-35E superslab is an engineers wet dream. It's put two construction companies out of business because have you looked at the thickness?
Fool's folly. The state will pay as much as TX is kicking and screaming into its own responsibility.
What city has the worst construction?

Yeah, I know in MS the state offered one thing and those companies couldn't build the road for that. What's the easiest way to save face and walk with what little cash you have left, fold the company. Some of these states are just to broke to lay a decent road. Look at 55 in AK, completely pot holed up to the point you can't even ride in the right lane.texasbbqbest and LindaPV Thank this.

Yes. It is an absolute mess around here lately, especially with the Liberty bridge closed. New Stanton will be nice when completed though....... I hopetexasbbqbest Thanks this.

2018 for New Stanton, I think. Speers Bridge down to one Lane, that's also a disaster at certain times.

I've never gone coast to coast, but I've had some long trips. Now, please keep in mind that the furthest west I've been is Kansas City, MO - but I have been in some of the major cities: Columbus, Cincy, Miami, Green Bay, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Philly, NYC, and more. Of all of the places I've to, Columbus and Cincy are tied.
This is just my opinion though, other people think differently. -
DFW, (Texas just has bad construction zones to begin with), Cincy, Crashville, etc.
Indiana is generally sloppy with how they do construction zones. Leads to unnecessary issues. -
That problem with Texas is they think big.
Hey! Why just do a few small stretches when we can tear up hundreds of miles of road at once.
DFW is like a war zone in Syria
They tore everything up and now don't seem to remember the next part of the plan.
Cincy can't seem to remember what they meant to do on 75
At least Dayton has gotten a little better.
Nashville doesn't need help from Orange barrels, their drivers can mess the city up without them.
And indiana 65 is a nightmare from Louisville to Gary.
Every five frikken miles......
And Arkansas makes sure there will be back ups somewhere between Memphis and Texarkana
And speaking of Memphis, just try to roll through West at 7:30am
Or at night when the lanes close
Waco to Salado is like NASCAR running at Sonoma-hold on and try not to hit anything.
Sell your trucks, you fools, put all your money in orange barrels.
Sorry for the rant, Greenville TN scales put me oos today, took two guys five hours to fix a leaky seal and my clock ran dry in the scale
I'd kill for a McD's.
And a six hour breakdown on Sat when another rotten recap blew everything up, it even ripped out a valve stem on a 2nd tire flattening it.
When Loves finally showed up, their compressor wouldn't run.
It's been three days from hell.
Maybe tomorrow I'll take out a barrel or two in Arkansas.stayinback, Lepton1, Mattflat362 and 1 other person Thank this. -

A bit sideways to the thread, but my brother finally wised up to the economics of recaps. Figured he was saving thousands every year running them. After three blowouts, including one that blew out the tire beside it along with an airbag and full fender, he realized he was losing money. Bought a complete set of brand new drives and has had zero issues. Roadside service gets expensive.Rusty Trawler Thanks this.
