Probably sold all those slick sided ones to a certain Utah outfit...
One of the more frustrating things I saw was an idiotic dock hand load our PLAINLY MARKED ramp pup,(issue, one each,) out on a line haul bound for L.A.
Needless to say, we never saw it again.![]()

Gotta love punching out this early.
Took one to our interline carrier that's in my area though. The place is open by appointment only.Mike2633 Thanks this. -
I made a pickup yesterday at a tubing factory that ships garbage flatbed freight that they have to load with an overhead crane.
When I got back to the yard, our freight inspector was waiting with his tape measure to descend on that crate like vultures on a carcass. He told me he can get an extra $79 for it right off the bat for being more than 14 feet long.
Apparently, weigt discrepancies can sometimes be mitigated by a volume discount, but not over length. Those get dinged for the full amount.
I was glad to hear that. -
speedyk Thanks this.

Had the worst day yesterday. I had a pallet of craft beer that I picked up. Even though I tied it in real good, the two flimsy layers of shrink wrap didn't hold. About twenty or thirty cases (2-3 rows) came tumbling down from above the tie down point. It sucked. Beer everywhere. And we had to dump a bunch of stuff. I tried to salvage what I could. Man that sucked.

That sucks. Had a load of Pepsi from Denver to Albuquerque one time that did that. Knight didn't say a word about paying lumpers to clean it up!
Then we had the Coke loads from Total Warehouse in Phoenix going to wherever. Those loads, the driver was responsible for shrink wrapping and loading his own truck. That sucked, because they didn't even pay us local time for doing it. One of the many reasons I told them bye-bye back in 2004.
On the other hand, I never has any problem with the loads I shrink wrapped and loaded myself... -
road_runner Thanks this.

"But, but... Those cost too much".
Hogwash. How much of YOUR product just got wasted here because of you're being cheap?misterG, Mike2633 and road_runner Thank this. -
Yeah... Roughly 30 cases. About 300 bottles. Prolly $1100 in lost sales. Speaking of sales .. our sales guy almost had a heart attack when I told him how much got dumped.
Maybe next time not so stingy on the shrink wrap? Doesnt cost you that much to make an extra two or three laps around the freight?
I agree with @MACK E-6 on the corner guards... Those can take some serious stress and prevent a pallet from collapsing. -
Stupid. Just plain stupid.
