What happened Mack was I really never had credit cards and because of that the bank would not loan me money. The irony is by the time I build credit I'll almost have enough money to have partially bucked the system as it stands today I could have put 20% on a $200,000 house and still had an okay emergency fund saved up. But I was strong armed into getting a credit card because "You have to build credit."

Well I can buy gas for my car and pay my cell phone on the credit card that's $300.00 a month and after 6-12 months of doing that I'll have "built up credit."

I'm just the opposite. I try to never have more than twenty bucks on me anymore. I use debit card for just about everything, when shopping, or dining out. I just carry the twenty for things like a pack of chewing gum, or coffee.
And if I buy online, which I do quite often, I use a prepaid credit card, with a low amount on it.

Yes and yes I need all the money I can get for a decent down payment I'm hoping to be either able to buck the system 100% and buy cash (that's a little far off) or at least be able to go to like Third Federal here in Cleveland and put down 30-40% that gets you a better rate and is almost like bucking the system.

    Big Don Thanks this.

I used my debit card a ton and really like it and with online banking I can go back and fourth with money transfers really easy and buy online and use it out of state and everything which is why I never had a real credit card.

Come to think of it... Us P&D guys can call up central dispatch on our days off and ask them if they have any extra non-layover linehaul runs for us. Those dispatchers will smile ear to ear if they have sudden random labor calling up, allowing them to send out more loads.
We have a company P&D driver out of Great Falls that does that. Runs P&D five days a week then he does 2 separate 500+ mile turns on his days off.
Only downside would be having to do a logbook week around even if you only run eight hours.

BMC, otherwise known as NDC (Network Distribution Center...we have a lot of acronyms) is the Nationwide Distribution Center. They deal with the distribution of all the states in the US, including Alaska and Puerto Rico. That's where you'll find a lot of the OTR contract carriers (otherwise known as HCR drivers). P&DC Centers only deal with their local districts, and that's where you'll find the local, home every night HCR drivers.

BMC Centers are WAAAY bigger than P&DC Centers. You need security clearance to enter into these facilities. They even have their own Police Force and Customs on-site. It's a whole different ball park when you enter a Federal BMC Center.

I wrote a big long winded post about that at 1am this morning it went on forever and ever funny thing is @4mer trucker read it and thanked it. It was way long so I didn't expect to many people to read it I knew that when I hit post, but I kind of talked about my life a little bit nothing earth shattering, but it kind of outlines where I was and how I got to where I am today.

My 7 day weeks are over, thankfully. Dispatch called me on one of my days off last week and practically begged me to work, so I agreed. I don't even sign up for my extra days anymore, I must be getting lazy! :)

    Mike2633 Thanks this.
