Hey Steel Tiger, I happened upon your post another thread, (flow below). I couldn't agree anymore about tire upkeep. Barring any unforseen catastrophies, a driver shouldn't ever have blowout with a truck tire. I've talked to three jct drivers in the past month that recently had drive tire blowouts. One had three in last 6 months. That same driver was also bragging about getting 160,000 miles on 1 drive tire. I chose not to counsel him on tires as it would've been a waste of time. With tires being so costly, I just don't understand why people don't maintain them better. Trailer tires of course are adifferent story as we pull so many different trailers.
Steel Tiger and MachoCyclone Thank this. -
Two of my drives are the original tires that came on the truck. 310,000 miles on them and still plenty of tread left on them. The other two are fairly new because one them picked up a broken tire chain link in the sidewall last winter.
My steers have about 120,000 miles on them with plenty of life in them still. -
Argh....197 miles to the house and 2 hours 54 minutes. Got about 20 miles of US 27 for the final leg, plus 2 weigh stations and an ag station.
Hammer down time. Glad I'm grandfathered in on max speedLast edited: Oct 22, 2016
