Oh Mack... this one may piss you off as much as it did with me. I once had two skids of tile going to a residential. I called ahead and met the lady that was supposed to take them. She saw both pallets and agreed to the delivery.. These are two pallets... each weighing 2K+. I got BOTH pallets downloaded and pushed uphill next to her garage. She then said: Nope.. I don't want them anymore

I was like: Ummm excuse me? Why did you have me unload them then?

Her response and (and i should have punched this ****** in her ****** face) I just wanted to watch you unload them... tell your dispatcher I ended up not liking the colour of the tile". She then got in her car and without saying anything else drove off.

I was unable to get this piece of crap order back on my trailer... due to the weight and the decline, my liftgate was sitting at -30 degrees. I had to call a coworker who had a different liftgate to help me out... both pallets ended up on his trailer.

I was in a world of pissed off that you would not understand. This happened three weeks ago

Tough. She agreed to the delivery--she either signs the papers or you call the police and have her charged with theft.

Problem is, until it's signed for it is still your freight.

In a case like that there needs to be a pile of backcharges at the very least. Anyone that ignorant deserves it.

Why don't any of us charge them for an attempted delivery or a disposal fee for their trash is beyond me. I know we would not see any of it, but the thought of them getting hit with an additional bill that the shipper wouldn't cover is gratifying enough.

You know what the cops response would be? "CIVIL PROBLEM." I guarantee it!

Probably have to take her to court. And even if you win, getting a verdict and getting the money are two totally separate things.

I don't know. Nor do I know how this post got quoted in this thread. Is it possible, just possible, that I screwed up?:(:oops::rolleyes::confused:

Once in a while, I have seen re-delivery charges. And I've actually seen freight "held hostage," until those charges were paid.
But in a situation like this, I just don't see any (legal) recourse....(Which is NOT the same as saying I don't see ANY recourse...) But I shouldn't go there...

We do redelivery charges if the customer doesn't have a good excuse on why he wasn't there... Especially if it was something he scheduled. We once had one of those computer desk plastic floor mats that was supposed to go to a residential. The guy there gave us the runaround and we had four redelivery attempts. The shipper saw much they would have to pay additionally and demanded the freight back before it could go out for delivery again.

I think you still had the multiquote function enabled on a post in another thread when you submitted this one.

    Four delivery attempts is ridiculous.

In the case of something that was appointed before it went out the first time, TWO in my humble opinion is bending over backwards.
