Absolutely agreed. Just saying in my opinion it could be a valuable training tool. We all lived fine without all the technology we have. I remember before cable came to town and I'm only in my 40's. Look where we are now. Just saying it's a tool that could be used as a coaching benefit. The other guy added the part that without them "you will surely die" I never said that. It's just a tool that has it's benefits.
I was just reading an article that was going over new car features and one had (I think Volvo) facial recognition that can somehow sense when you are driving tired. There are a lot of tools coming down the pipeline. Embrace the good aspects of them; the bad ones will be driven out of the market for failure to produce results.

Marx would be proud! However, those who prefer liberty and freedom would not agree. Our Founding Fathers are rolling in their graves right now. You want a driver facing camera in YOUR truck? Go for it. You want the government/corporations/insurance companies to do all the thinking for YOU? Go for it. But it shouldn't be pushed on everybody. We're supposed to be living in a free country and we aren't all equal. What works for you doesn't work for all humans and vice-versa. That's the beauty of true freedom...CHOICE.

Or would you like to go back to how we started. The Pilgrims came here for freedom to practice THEIR religion but did not take kind to people who opposed them. Go look up how Rhode Island became a state. Roger Williams the founder was basically kicked out of Mass. Never mind slavery, the internment of Japanese, American citizens of Japanese decent. Or the Chinese Coolies who built the railroad system. Never mind that they had quotas for Jews at places like Harvard or signs in Boston and maybe other places "No Irish need apply".
The beauty of freedom...Choice? How about the Amendment to the Constitution banning alcohol which was a disaster. Who choice was that?
Don't get me wrong, I live in Florida and the rafts only go one way, here but let's keep it real.
Do you know the worst riot in American History was the New York Draft riot where apparently the people didn't have a choice to fight in the Civil War and tore New York to pieces and hung Blacks up in protest.
I'm not for the insurance companies, but they have control. There is a reason that the two largest buildings in every city are insurance companies and banks. Again I like living here; it's the only thing I know and I'm not leaving. But to talk about freedom of choice and our Founding Fathers (and I could go on about some of their motives) is a bit misleading.
Again freedom of choice. You ever hear of the Blue laws? Even to this day you can't buy beer until certain hours of the day. My friend, freedom of choice is an illusion. However we do need restrictions or we would have chaos but who decides those restrictions? Certainly not the average person like me and you.Rusty Trawler Thanks this. -
I agree but to help them gain even more control is sheep-like, sir. BTW, these laws are being pushed through by corporations more than anyone (Knight, Maverick, JB Hunt, US Xpress). They are turning our entire transportation industry into a Marxist/Socialist paradise. Insurance companies are just using the opportunity to capitalize.

Yes you are right but unfortunately there would be none of these companies if people wouldn't work there. People have nobody to blame but themselves. Not just trucking either. Many decent honorable blue collar professions are being wiped out. It's a shame and I do my best to not think of it as I can't do a thing about it but adapt.

Reports on the Swift forum of a driver who was fired due to events recorded on the driver cams. Couple of red lights, couple of no seat belts while backing into docks and couple of following too close when cut off by traffic. Driver has a pristine perfect driving record but driver cams say he is a menace to society and was fired.

Sheesh, I thought they gave you a break on seatbelts when backing?
"Sorry I ran into that trailer. I couldn't 'lean & look' with my seatbelt on"
Glad I don't work for a mega.Voyager1968 and Rusty Trawler Thank this. -

Of course I can write what I write because I'm not posing a threat to anyone and complying with all rules and regulations, but that was so myopic of me. Again thank you so much for opening my eyes.. Phew, you certainly are a true American!!Ketchikan baby Thanks this. -
