May Trucking hired me with no work history for the past 5 years. But I didn't have a criminal record, either. Whatever you've been doing for the past few years, that's your business. As long as you don't tell them you've been up to no good, you should be fine.

Keep filling out apps for multiple companies and stay on top of it, someone will hire you. After that, get some experience and it opens up more options if you feel like pursuing them.

 

They're just being a little bit impatient with ya on the clarification. I wouldn't take it personal. is easy to forget that someone brand new to the industry doesn't always know WHICH details might be relevant...and why.
If I may throw in my 2cents and steer the conversation back... The others are trying to gain an understanding of your situation by asking the same questions a recruiter will ask. *shrugging* Before I had my felony record cleared, when the subject came up, recruiters would know WHAT laws I broke.. But had no idea bout the circumstances.. And how it compared to the rest of my character-history. I can tell ya from experience: Recruiters and safety reps want to See if ya try and minimize or dodge culpability.. Also; being upfront with details helps convince them you're not hiding a pattern of criminal behavior that didn't end up on yer record.

If you have a CDL, many trash collecting companies will hire you with no experience and a record. That may be a path try; plus home every night

 

You can realistically take home at least 800 a week, even with a mega training company. Learn how to run miles and be efficient with your time. Target getting an average of 2500 miles a week, multiply that by the rate per mile you are paid to get an idea.

Your truck sleeper berth can become your man cave or your prison, depending on your outlook and ability to adapt and enjoy life on the road. Having a nice mattress topper, like memory foam ($80 at Walmart), along with sheets and a comforter, makes my truck better than my bed at home.

If you don't have rent or car payments, you can save bank each week. Figure about $250-300 a week for food and incidentals and cell phone with data and the test of your take home can go towards your goals. Many a driver has saved to buy a truck or house this way.

 

Take what you can get and get a year in. Then you can find the better companies out there.
