I don't pay for XM Radio, but our newer trucks are equipped with the receiver for it in the actual factory radio and since it's free for 2 weeks I have started today of taking advantage of it. Has anyone else been taking advantage of the free Satellite Radio?
Usually I listen to Classic Rewind or Alt-Nation. Thank God Alt Nation isn't like the FM Radio Equivalent 99X, which is a mediocre station at best, mediocre is being nice about it.
I tell you what Alt music peaked in 2010 and had a couple other good years after that, but past 24 months it's in my opinion kind of gone into the toilet.

My wife subscribes to Sirius radio. It's ok if you enjoy listening to alot of music and expect to spend a lot of time in your vehicle (which honestly most of us do). Tons of options except many of the stations run on short playlists that rarely gets updated. Love the talk shows. As for music..unless you gotta have it, there are free alternatives out there like iHeart radio. Granted, you will burn data, but the extra gig will offset the costs of a subscription based plan.
One more gripe about satellite radio... Tall buildings... Yup, tall buildings will take the jam out of your donut and listening to the radio will be similar to watching a high def online stream with a 56k dialup modem.Mike2633 and Bob Dobalina Thank this. -
Supervalu is too cheap to pay for Satellite radio, fortunately the guy I share the truck with is a lifetime subscriber and let's me use his transceiver. Heck, he even programmed in some stations I like - pretty cool.

So today and this is a first, I get to my last stop at about 11:30am and a Hillcrest Truck was parked in the middle of the driveway smack dab in the middle. The truck parked in the middle of the road was similar to the one pictured below. I like to throw pictures in for fun!
Anyhow, I got done before him, he had a lot more then me, anyhow when I was getting ready to leave he said to me "I don't normally park like, this but the reverse gear on my truck is broken and doesn't work."
I laughed.
He said he got stuck at a stop and had to be towed out because reverse didn't work on his truck, he said that his truck just got back from the shop last week too, and they had dropped a new motor and transmission in the truck, which would probably explain why the reverse gear didn't work.
Anyhow, he said they told me don't go anywhere, where you have to back up and do the best you can. He said he had a couple dock stops that he opted not to do and the company could figure it out later.
I asked him if his truck was automatic or stick and he said his was a push button automatic, but there fleet is mixed. Some sticks some autos. There fleet used to be mostly International Leasers and still mostly is, but they do have a few Freightliners that snuck in. Most of there trucks are leased from National Lease. -

So a few months back my wife and I did a road trip across the country. She loves 90's on channel 9. I think we were halfway through South Dakota when they played "Heavy D and the Boyz" for the 8th time in just as many hours. I almost lost my crap and punched the satellite radio when my wife compromised to change stations. We now listen to channel 34... 90's grunge. Lots of Pearl Jam but at least not the same songs over and over again.
Mike2633 Thanks this. -

Sheesh, no way would I pay for a subscription to radio!
I'm pretty particular about what I listen to when behind the wheel. Just plug in the old MP3, that has over 1000 pieces on it. Don't have to listen to advertising, jerk jocks that think they are "entertainment," or "news" that is more BS than news.speedyk, MACK E-6, misterG and 1 other person Thank this.
