    After hearing the rest of her story it makes sense why she is at CRST.
    Really wishing you success. You seem so determined to be a truck driver. Get some experience and move on. Look forward to updates.
    Ran across a CRST driver that told me he only made $3.75 an hour working there, not sure how he came up with those numbers but he was asking for a ride home from the truck stop where he left the truck.

    Your estimate of 10% sounds reasonable. Bloomberg Business estimates 80% of all startup businesses fail within 18 months. Inc. magazine estimates 96% fail within 10 years.

    Leasing a truck is a business, and it is not immune from business truths.

    These are facts the OP should take into account when she is presented with a lease opportunity in the future.

    NEVER EVEN THOUGHT ABOUT IT. the last 3trucks that I bought. I have owned 11 trucks and am now retired.

    A small select group of professional drivers have made the lease purchase deal work.

    Having said that,never ever buy or lease a truck from the company that is responsible for getting your freight.
    They can make or break you.

    Close to paying off the truck.
    They can starve you out.

    Turn down freight.
    Sorry,no loads for you today.
    They hold all the cards.

    The only way you have control is if you buy your truck from a place of your choosing. Don't like where you are leased on.
    Move to a different company.

    If your credit is lousy,a fleece purchase is not the answer.
    Then you need to suck it up as a company driver,make bank and get your credit in order.

    Then you are ready to take it to the next level and become a true professional owner operator.

    LP is not a business LOL. You dont have any rights to the truck PERIOD. You are a glorified company driver...and you are a tax break for CRST. Understand that up front.

    Paying for a truck huh.......see if they will give you the title with them listed as the lein holder.
    WONT HAPPEN! Its a medicine show scheme that hundreds of suckers fall for every year. Will a few be "permitted" to get a truck. Yes....that is to give the other 200 suckers some hope.....like playing at the casino LOL

    Listen to what IH truck guy said. He is %100000000 correct.

    One can try and spin it, but the truth is, very, very few make it as a L/P operator by leasing a truck from and pulling for the same carrier....There is way too much opportunity for shenanigans that usually ends up with the L/P op getting a real shellacking.....Have I ever done it, nope, and never will as the cards are stacked against you...Some just cannot get past the bling allure & carrier rhetoric....

    SST, there will be a lot to learn in the first few months. Keep your ears and eyes open too all the is around and try to soak it all up. Keep trying your hardest even when you don't feel like it. Put your time in at that company. Once you have it in you are not obligated to remain there and can go where ever you please. Don't lose that spark for the open road and you will do well, also swing wide when turning.
