Sammons was bought years ago by UTI, which was sold January last year to DSV, a Danish company I believe. We just had to change our lettering a month or so ago to DSV on our trucks.

I'm actually considering switching carriers only because I would prefer to haul for a US owned company.
-
Well the vast majority of your carriers are actually bankrolled by foreign investors...and some even have majority holdings in the companies. If we haul product to be exported out of the US better for all of us
Heck....all your Freightliners are now made in Mexico lol. You not going to ever drive a Freightliner? (I am an O/O and never would have a Freightliner lol)
Now for your consideration. Many of the so called US based companies are not really that great. From ripping off drivers, crooked Fleece Purchase schemes to scam drivers, Load Board manipulations, Double Brokering paying company driver slave wages and over all mistreatment of the drivers. I can go on with a laundry list of issues. The US carriers only care about their own pockets. You are a replaceable warm blooded body with a heartbeat to put behind the wheel to make the truck go. More drivers where you came from. They will just fleece a trucking school and promise the drivers the moon. or being an O/O and ropeing the poor sucker into an PL scheme lol. Rinse and repeat.
If Sammons (DSV) still pays well. Stay with them. If their freight gets even better...definitely stay.
I am going to be leaving the US carrier I am currently with this year because they are a lying, sneaking, manipulating, buddy hustling, load board cut and pasting, lazy, low rate hauling owner operator mill to work for.
Peace out.JimmyWells Thanks this. -
Holy crap we agree on something, I am an owner operator also that doesn't like, nor drive a Freightliner. LOL

I would give DSV a chance...and would consider them. They are strictly an open deck carrier. That is what they concentrate on.
The good thing I like about the Sammons operation is that they allow the driver to also look for freight..and give them an additional 2% if Sammons books it. The recruiter stated that this practice would continue with DSV.
Many of the other legit O/O carriers (not fleece purchase carriers...sorry) want you to ONLY use their own load in house load board. Lots of loads never make it to the boards because they are saved/hidden for favorites. Also, a lot of the loads on a companies "in house load board" are cut and pasted of other load boards.....thereby watering down the rate even further. (can we say double broker lol). Sometimes triple broker.
I am gong to keep a close eye on DSV
