Would you recommend teams or solo for a new driver?

You need to get your own skills honed. Dont do team yet. You have a ton to learn. You need to learn before you are at the point to put someone else's life in your hands. Also...what about their skill set??
You need to learn my young jedi.
Also the carriers love to take advantage or trainee teams. -
I think your crazy for thinking about teaming. I think you have no clue yet what trucking entails. So why would you consider living in a confined spaced the size of a phone booth with another dude? Sleeping in a moving truck all the time? Trusting your life and career to someone your barely know?
-
When I first got into trucking I started out teaming with a guy I knew. I done it for 6 months that's all I could handle. I couldn't sleep because of the truck moving. But it did help me get comfortable driving and going to different places cause my team driver pretty much knew where all the shippers/receivers where located. For me it was a good learning experience But I prefer solo because your the captain of the ship and don't have to share the truck and most of all sleep peacefully.

I'd rather drink turpentine and whiz on a brushfire than drive teams. But hey, everyone is different.

I have a hard time sleeping with someone else driving. Every bump I am peeking through curtain making sure he is awake. 6 weeks with my trainers sucked. Cant imagine doing it full time. Other people love it!
-
I couldn't do it but it there would be definite pluses.
I know a couple guys who started out that way. Two green drivers learning together. Always someone to spot for you. Someone to help with directions when you miss a turn. Learn from each others mistakes. Simple moral support I guess.
Not for me but for the right people it would be a great option. -
Basically it's the blind leading the blind.....especially if both drivers have limited experience.
Moral support won't mean much when your co driver uses a Jake brake on icy roads and you wind up in a ditch... Or worse. -
Lol, most go through a relatively short training period and then go out on our own and start the real learning.
For the right two people it can be a real benefit. I'm sure it can also have the opposite impact.
Like mentioned, I know a couple guys who started that way and it worked well. Especially when it came to backing and navigating. -
Just got into a truck with my new company and ther having me go with a trainer for a bit. (yay top bunk :/ ) but where running solo and that's great. (if we need we will run super solo) but I just remember another reason I won't team. space. My duffle is cramped into the passenger foot well and there's just no room for 2 people in this truck.
