The gladhand handles prevented the hoses breaking, after I put them on.

Hoses getting ripped of happened now and then when I was a switcher, moving around inter-modal containers.
Taking off tomorrow (Sunday) for Lafayette, IN to pick up a trailer Monday morning. Then from there, who knows, but I'm about to start my journey.Road Killer, scythe08, SoDel and 9 others Thank this. -

I thank you for this thread. I want to do what you're doing too. I will ask this here since I'm sure someone who knows the answer is most likely following along. What about a pre-luber? Are they a smart move?
Road Killer Thanks this. -
I forgot to add a fuel heater.

Made it to Lafayette, IN. Picking up a trailer in the morning 5 miles from where I am. After that, nobody knows.
My boss says I can get a username for DAT. Not sure what it comes with, but I'm really interested in looking around at statistics. I'm a big numbers guy, and can't get enough.
I've been thinking about ideas of where I could run, and although I told my boss he can have free reign with dispatching me for a while, I would like to eventually carve out a niche area, and try to maximize it.
I had been thinking of running between Chicago and Columbus, and then I thought about triangle routes. Chicago to Philly to Columbus then back to Chicago? 2 round trips per week? Maybe that would earn better revenue? Or maybe just Chicago to Philly and back twice per week? I don't really know a lot about what these lanes are paying, but as a company driver it was something I had never even given a thought about. Now that my success is in my own hands, it is something I seriously have to learn. I wonder if it's out of the question to get $2,500+ from Chicagoland to Philly for dry van.
Glad it is supposed to start warming up a bit the next few days. I won't get my bunk heater installed until the end of the month, but I have a bunch of blankets and a sleeping bag rated for 10 degrees F. And a lot of granola bars, bananas, oranges, and water. And plenty of vape juice for a while.
I'm going to post a topic about vaping supplies, I haven't vaped over the road before, since I started vaping a little at my last job when I switched trailers. I wonder where people get their stuff.Road Killer and SoDel Thank this. -
Went and picked up new trailer today in Lafayette, IN. Then got my first load. 225 miles $900. Told my boss I wanted Phoenix for $3200
but I knew that wouldn't happen. So here we go.
PhilKenSebben, Knucklehead and Road Killer Thank this.
