Well, almost 3 hours for 80 miles...and just before the exit I was suppose to get off, a jack-knifed truck. I had to exit and take a county road 20-sum miles, over river and thru the woods to the shipper...plus, I am only getting 35k lbs, and it looks like the roads aren't much better all the way to Clear Lake IA.
*update
Got loaded and rolling fairly quickly. US14 out of Waseca was clean enough to roll the speed limit with the exception of the occasional sporadic burst of wind that cause total white outs. Then there was I-35...which was o.k. for a few miles, then icy, then you'd go behind a stand of trees and the blowing snow would settle on the roads and get worse. I managed to make Albert Lea, and heard that the interstate was closed in both directions in Clear Lake IA due to mutiple vehicle crashes and extreemly icy roads. I don't think I've seen blowing snow this heavy in my travels across WY...

Arrived today at 1430 today for my loading appt at 1000 tomorrow. Almost loaded now. Wanted to get here to make sure I would make with all this snow. Delivering the 13th in Jamestown. ND dispatch can you get there any earlier.
Me: Maybe weather sucks hours suck
Update loaded but I'm not going anywhere. Chain law back up. I am on flat ground here till where I get off to head up thru Washington makes no sense. Oregon does about as much snow removal as Georgia or Alabama does. Less than 1 inch of snow and chains law back up. There idea of snow removal is to make you put chains on.Last edited: Jan 10, 2017
ncmickey Thanks this. -
For once I can say thankfully I'm fat. It may be the only thing that kept my truck on all 18 wheels coming up 65. The wind was horrible and of course I currently have the lightest load I've pulled since coming to Magnum. On my way for the Tour de North Dakota with a 5 stopper all in ND.
Currently sitting at the Flying J in Hebron IN only because we're mandated to fuel at Pilot/J's otherwise I'd exclusively NOT use this chain. But that's another tale of what's annoying me today.ncmickey Thanks this. -
At least it stopped snowing....
For now.....J. JETT Thanks this. -
I'm in S Beliot. Wind shook my truck so hard I flew forward into the dash while I was cleaning my truck. Anybody else get caught in the presidential escort? I caught the tail of it. OMG every cop car, swat truck & dot car in Illinois was in it. I've seen less action for a fallen officer. Needless to say after that traffic was fast paced!

J. JETT Thanks this.

It has calmed down here in Albert Lea. It was like the others who posted...kept feeling like I was being backed into from the drivers side, only I am in the last spot in the row, so yes....I was breaking wind for everyone else...sorry, couldn't resist...I am still a 9 year old is some ways.
4mer trucker, ncmickey and mitrucker Thank this.
