about a week ago I sat in a deabte with myself about getting two different size 9f snow shovels after getting stuck trying to hook up to a trailer with around 18 inches of a snow on ice surrounding it. tried one chain at a time. with all four outside drives with chains on I ended up digging a whole. needed a tow out then proceeded to follw that with 10 hr brl.
I ended up using a backpacking or military shovel to clear a 20 ft path. left my chains on, was able to hook up and deliver. there's gotta be a faster method.

Yep, layers, stay dry and proper head protection.

There's also heated clothing you can buy. Can't imagine having to charge my gloves or jacket but have wondered how well it works. Anybody tried any of those?

I only call it quits when it's snowing too heavily and I'm afraid I won't be able to keep it on the road.free spirited1 Thanks this. -
I have thought about adding a snow saw to cover the situation you were in. It has a two foot aluminum blade with large teeth. Cut blocks and use the shovel to pry them out. Best way to quickly get through that layer of ice.
Kitty litter can help get traction to get you started, if all you need to do is get moving so you can get out of a snow or ice covered parking lot and out onto bare and dry roadway.SingingWolf and dca Thank this. -
been looking at a few websites about wear, I'll post a few more later, gotta get back to work.
