I loaded in Guymon OK yesterday. I weighed in 800lbs heavier than I actually am due to ice. Well I thought it would melt off yesterday as it was 37 degrees so I loaded to 80180. Well it didnt entirely melt off ( maybe 300 lbs)and as I sit here in Lamar CO needing to put on fuel its raining and 31 degrees.Im delivering in draper UT.
Does CO give you a pass for buildup?
Or should I run with minimum fuel?
Thank you

I vote for min fuel. Don't give DOT any excuse to fail you...
G13Tomcat, TequilaSunrise and SingingWolf Thank this. -
If you have the time. Wait out the storm. Then splash in just enough fuel to get past scales. 300 pounds is like oh... 30 gallons?
Remember during this epic ice storm, 33 degress is the number.roadrunningx18 Thanks this. -
Smile and grin and very little fuel or none, don't give the DOT anything to get you for...wait it out if you must

Or, you could call a scale or POE and ask. That's how I knew I didn't have to worry in UT.
Are you even overweight? If so, by how much and where. Your post is not clear.Last edited: Jan 15, 2017

Ever think about knocking off the ice
akfisher Thanks this. -
I am legal now as I burnt off 170 lbs. I didnt want to run over the rockies on marginal fuel, that is why I was looking for opinions on how CO dot is on this ice buildup issue.
