Or it could be that some of us won't be anywhere near our pay stubs for a while, being out on the road and all.
-
Or it could just be that I don't have to show anybody anything. I have no reason to lie about what I made. I'm no longer with Millis so what do I have to gain by lieing? If you want to not believe me that's fine, but you can check back thru any post Ive made on here discussing money and everyone of them says the same thing. $55,000 from Jan-Nov in my 1st "full" year with Millis. Believe me or don't believe me I really don't care.
-
If someone could tell me how to black out personal information I'd go ahead and post it just to prove it lol

Hopefully that worked. This is my last stub with Millis. I gave 2 weeks notice Nov 17, and took the last 2 weeks of Nov off for jury duty. Adding my gross and my perdiem totals just under $55k. 130,000 miles ran from Jan 1 thru Nov 17.

Just to clear up any misconceptions your gross is just under $42000. If it includes all the bonuses it is really not that impressive. Not bad, but not great either.
-
You understand I have 10 cents per diem taken out right? If not for the per diem my actual gross would be much higher than 42k, but since I pay support for 3 kids I prefer my gross to show "only" 42k. 130000 miles in 10.5 months and with all my bonuses mileage etc I averaged a little under .43cpm my 1st year. Also again that pay stub was for 10.5 months of actually driving since I wasn't in the truck after Nov 17.
-
10 cents multiplied by 130,000 miles equals another $13k added to that 42k so like I said $55k

Just a word to the wise on taking that per diem pay if you ever become disabled. My late father was an OTR driver as I was. He was one for 27 years before losing a lung and other issues and being declared disabled from it. I was one for 7 years never took per diem pay from any carrier I drove for I only wanted straight pay. He got less in SSDI than I did in 2013 for his longer time on the road.
Remember this about Per Diem you can not itemize your deductions at all I routinely was able to slam Uncle Sam for almost everything I paid in just in my days on the road. That 13K was not reported to SS as Income or the IRS as income and it will hurt you come retirement. Yes it looks good however in the long run it kills you come SS time. How do I know this I was declared 100% disabled from my epilepsy and other issues in 2004 this year before Medicare I get over 1700 in SSDI per month. My Medicare costs me 110 a month. The worst part is I miss being out on the road. However I still would not have changed my career for anything just would not have played football in HS. So just remember that your health can be removed at any time and that extra 13k you made and did not report to the SS administration means you lost 100 a month in money you could use for your family.loose_leafs Thanks this. -
The .41 base rate is still actually not bad for a rookie, and I will say at least Millis does per diem right without screwing the drivers on top of it. Millis has it set up where you will pretty much make more gross by taking the per diem pay. (With all the bonuses, etc)
A rotten apple for example, J.R. Schugel, for example, only a few short years ago was paying drivers in the mid 30 cent range INCULDING per diem, and companies like Marten charge you a "processing fee" to pay you your own money.
The smart way to do it is to claim 2 exemptions on your W2, save and invest the money instead of letting uncle Sam Hold $3000 to $6000 of your money till January.
That is money you could be saving and investing every paycheck, instead of getting a "fat tax refund" in January and blowing it on something stupid. Some people spend every last penny they make though...
