I am looking at a 2008 reefer with a Carrier unit. I have to different hour readings. 1- is engine hours of 5480, 2 - start stop running hours like 18,000. What is the difference? My thermos king reefer only displays compressor and engine hours, not this start stop deal.

i could be wrong but i would assume engine hours is how many run hours are on the unit . start stop is how many hours it was ran in the mode . which means the engine wasnt running the whole time hence the start stop?? i

Engine hours = time engine is running
Total hours = total time on
This unit was run a lot in start stop. It is very low at 5500 hours for 2008. Some of these things go 20 to 30 thousand engine hours. Keep in mind you likely won't get arb certified if you run California and give a hoot if you need to display an arb number on it.
