Not every company pays zip to zip. But that was a great idea by the OTR companies. Stop paying hub miles and pay air miles to the driver. That $ can be used for something like more advertising or something more useful. Drivers are a penny a 100.
That's the way most ppl think that make key choices at a company. It's up to the core of drivers to change that.

Bet these companies wouldn't stand for the drivers being five hours late for every single appointment. I mean, its close. It was the same day as the appointment so that should count. Surely you aren't implying there's some double standard hereToomanybikes and tscottme Thank this. -
I kept close track of actual miles run vs what was paid at a company I started at 8 years ago.
What I found was that I was being shorted (consistently) 3%.AceMatt, DRAGON64, tscottme and 1 other person Thank this. -
Didn't see it mentioned in this article, but I seen it in other articles.
The reason this lawsuit can go ahead, as not so much the fact Swift pays zip to zip, but that they pay drivers zip to zip, but charge customers address to address.
If they paid address to address, or charged customers zip to zip then by the summary I read the lawsuit would not have been allowed to go forward. I.E. they had the ability to pay based on address, but didn't to short drivers pay.Toomanybikes, DUNE-T and tucker Thank this. -
I'm sure there will be other suits filed if swift loses. Just like there are multiple suits simalir to the one walmart lost in cali. Where drivers are saying there either not being payed for there time. Or the pay is less than minimum wage

I hope this industry is rocked and puts an end to this practice of zip to zip. -
Only ones to get any money will be the lawyers.. drivers might get 20 dollars on settlement
Rubicon, Broke Down 69 and scottied67 Thank this. -

It might be a half billion dollar lawsuit but the stipulation being the lawyers only get $5 million whether they settle for $5 million or win the entire half billion, it is in the lawyers' best interest to wrap the suit up quickly and cash in on the $5 million as a settlement rather than fight it all the way out and possibly go into the hole with a victory and especially a loss.
Toomanybikes Thanks this. -
Here is the main problem with this lawsuit. It is the industry slandered to short .03 - .08 percent of actual miles due to the methods used to calculate the trips. So if this lawsuit is granted and awarded to the drivers then it will open up a colossal can of worms that would force the industry to change as a whole. All it is going to do is make the companies pay based on the odometer miles which they will just decrease driver pay to compensate. So no matter what we drivers will still get screwed.
There are very few companies that actually pay based on odometer miles. I am working for one that does and I am payed about .05 cpm less then what I was making at my last company. If you do the math I am making the same amount of money or at least close to it. The only difference is the amount of miles I drive to get that pay. The main reason I took this new job was to be home a lot. I went from being home every two or three weeks to doing a 34 reset every weekend and home at least once during the week for an extended 10.
