If I had written it up and turned it in, and had notified the shop and dispatch that it was there, I'd likely just roll on and say "We'll try again next time...or you can route me to a Speedco, T/A, etc. To have it done on the road" if anyone asked. It was there, at your shop, waiting for you to service it. Unless you're going to pay me to sit around ON MY HOMETIME, I'm not sitting around your shop. Hell, after sitting around for 3 hours, when they told me to drop the trailer and park it, I'd be heading home again.

Drive down the road to a TA pull in and 45 minutes later call in for the funds to pay the service bill....
Don't do this if it gets you fired. Yelled at maybe... -
Nice to hear from you Dna. Knew I could count on you for some laughter.
-
How do you know which one it will be before hand. Do you ask? "Hey will this get me fired or just yelled at"
x1Heavy Thanks this. -
I don't I generally got yelled at bypassing the company shop.
Ive since learned to avoid really big ticket items. But it was my way to make sure the tractor was keep up to DOT standards, essentailly 100% down to replacing broken toggle switches. Which is why I asked for metal ones not plastic ones LOL. For example.
I got yelled at alot. Then threatened. But fired? Not yet. Every time they yelled, I always lowered the voice and used very few words generally yessir no sir etc. and got quieter the louder they yelled. It usually ends the yelling when they run out of air.
What you don't want to do is yell back with profanity. That is like pouring gasoline on the shop boss's fires. He will explode. -
I used the piss off our shop manager in Idaho Falls for the hell of it.
The day we found out his arse was being shipped off to the Reno shop I was in talking to my terminal manager. My response to him was "about time Knight moved the trash to the landfill" then went to leave with a smile on my face, only to turn around and see my shop manager standing in the doorway.
My smile got a little bit bigger as I passed him and he walked in and shut the door.Last edited: Mar 2, 2017
x1Heavy, OverDrive and crazeydude Thank this. -
Theres going to be a problem if shop manager, dispatcher, or owner yells to my face. A quick knuckler shuts them up quickly.
Texas_hwy_287 Thanks this. -
So, that's worked well for you I take it......
