How the hell would I know about this law in MD? Any more surprises on the east?

Its quite simple really keep your drive and tandem axles on the trailer below 34,000lb and the steers below 12,000lb and you'll be fine.

Thats fine as long as the freight is loaded properly. If he has to put the axles too far back to make the axle weights legal CA will happily write him a ticket. It's one of those things they seek out. I got a ticket for it 10 years ago northbound at Cajon back then it was $96.

Used to pick up produce in Cali, 95% of the time it was legal with the bridge law. The other 5% of the time I'd always be where the only scale I had to worry about was the Keene scale on 58 (only seen it open once in my career) so I'd just run it and when I got to the AZ state line, I'd pull over and make it legal the rest of the way back to the midwest.

I don't miss California one bit, or picking up at produce sheds. Pain in the arse...

I'll have to check but it should be in the front of the Rand McNalley CMV atlas.

Cali has what they call KPRA law. It stands for kingpin to rear axle. In California you can't be longer than 40 ft from the kingpin to the center of the rear axle.
