Finally got my own truck

If he's making money and has no other debts, then it doesn't have to be 4 more years. With early payments, it wouldn't be unreasonable to have it paid off in 2 years.

Maybe instead of me wanting to do something different it should be you looking into getting your tanker endorsement and finding a company to pull for that would be a little more of a specialized service

This guy missed his payments even before joining me. In the past, his truck broke down and LM warranty didn't cover. He didn't seemed to be caring as much either as he was working 3-4 days a week and wanted to be home everyday. Running the way he did was his choice. Lone Mountain does not joke around and will take your truck away quickly.

 

He said he was averaging $1500 paychecks to himself before taxes. Even if he set aside $500 for personal expenses and taxes, he's got $1000 per week. That's $100,000 he can save in 2 years, or put towards the principle during those 2 years. At the end of those years, he's going to have per diem and depreciation in his favor, so he might even get a refund at tax time.

Is that really so unreasonable? His situation has its ups and downs, but I think right now he's just in a glass half empty mood.

I was figuring the salary you paid yourself could go back into the truck as well. Plus I didn't factor in 8 weeks of ping pong, I only gave you 2. Either way, it's theoretical and you're the one who knows how much money you can save.

I do hope it picks up for you. Once you get it paid off, I think it will be worth it. You can be pickier about your loads, take more time off, or run the same and pocket what you save on a payment.
