Yes I am new to the trucking industry and know most drivers say run away from L/P Programs as fast as you can. I remember reading an ad recently for a company that touted a variable payment lease program meaning your truck payment was based on the miles you drove for the payment period - not a fixed amount like most lease agreements. Anyone out there know of a company(ies) that have their lease program structured in such a fashion? Thanks in advance!

I am at JCT. Fixed truck payment at $120 a week and variable at $0.23 per mile. Pretty good deal if your goal is to purchase the truck. You could hire a teammate and pay the truck off twice as fast for example.

They pay all the Ifta and many others. I clear 1200 a week after I take out taxes.

That's still a terrible rate. Imo you should make at least double what a company driver makes at your company. Otherwise why take all that risk.

Because at the end I own it. Its not for everyone I agree. I make a good living for me doing it.

The true rate is $0.90 + $0.23 + $0.05+ fuel surcharge + trailer + IFTA + Plates + Permits which when you add all these things in is more or less comparable to a similar place where I paid all those thing directly rather than indirectly at JCT.

The only other leasing a truck experience was when I was at Swift, there deal was more or less $550 a week for 4 years then you still owe something like $50,000 on the truck when the 4 year lease is through. At JCT you pay the $0.23 + $120 a week til the last dollar is due, no $50,000 ballon payment on the end, simply the truck is yours.

The harder you run, the faster you make miles, the safer you run the sooner you own the truck. Hire a driver or go team with your spouse and own the truck in half the time.

Forgot to mention the trucks are outfitted with a fridge and APU.
