Going to the Cartersville, GA. school. Still waiting on offer from Watkins-Shepard, they have a large terminal in Dalton, GA. Their training is held in Missoula, Montana. Both Millis and Watkins where at the top of my list. Anyone have any comment about either company?

Both get pretty high marks around here. Much better than the CREnglands, Werners, etc. None of these companies are perfect, but these 2 seem to treat their drivers as humans instead of slaves. Go get em' budddy.

Hey Draggin, my trainer has a laptop that I can use so I hope to be able to update when I am able to. So far so good. We are in Albany right now and waiting to get dispatched. Been here the good portion of the day. Hope to get something soon so we can get moveing. When he picked me up he had a load that had to go to Miller brewing in Albany. Millis has a dropyard here so we get to sit and wait for another. He says that it only gets like this when your in Albany so we will see.I'll update later.

srick773 - I posted a message in the other Millis forum, but I think you may be in the best position to answer the questions, if you wouldn't mind. I'll skip the long stuff and get straight to what I'm wondering:

At what point do you take the actual CDL test?

What would happen if you (anyone) failed it the first time, do they give you the boot? Help in working on the area that you need help with? etc...

I'm asking because I am comparing the pro's / con's of Millis' training vs. private school. I like I think everyone else, have found nothing but good things about Millis and it seems like an excellent choice. It just bugs me thinking that at any point they can 'boot' you for whatever reason and you'd be stuck w/o the CDL and a $2000 bill.

The recruiter I spoke to said the main reason people 'leave' the training is because they decide OTR is not for them. Or for the obvious, crashing a truck.

I would just feel much better hearing from someone who is actually out there WITH the trainer. Since I have a family, I have no room for making uninformed decisions with this type of thing.

Any answers / info you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!
